there's also a hat that whenever you use a healing item you get the same kind of shield called sheltered life. I found it on the couple you tenchnicly save at the beginning

The best part is you don't need to continually wear the gear. jump up to a hook the open menu, equip Winter Shield, then jump off. Once you land open menu and switch to another gear like Pyromaniac or Shock Jacket which will set on fire or electro stun the handyman most times he hits you. The immunity effect will persist.

I found that sheltered life has more use as food is a very common drop as well as Elizabeth throwing you health kit and 10 seconds of invincibility; granted, in later combat sections in where there are skylines and hooks everywhere, I can see the preference.

Not sure if I came across it on my normal playthrough, but it never popped up on my 1999 playthrough. I wasn't trying to get it though; I relied heavily on Blood to Salts and Storm the most. But that's what I love about this game - everyone has their own unique play style with gear, vigors, and weapons!

Salts all the way. Max them first unless you really, really, really feel you need the shields. What most people don't realise is that the most effective way to stay alive in this game is through the use of vigors. Almost every vigor is essentially a stun of some kind. M.o.C., S.J., B.B. and Undertow are all examples. They also make any enemy that they are used on vulnerable meaning they take more damage.

The true flaw about this gear is that, all loot/gear is random and you're not guaranteed to ever get winter shield in your playthrough. So, all the comments about it being the first piece of gear they received or whatever is and can be true. I never managed to get it during my 1999 mode run through, and I didn't really need it. Basically what I'm saying is, you can keep reloading checkpoints until you get any gear you want, and you just might get lucky in getting this gear. Like I said, I tried constantly, in an area with two gear boxes but had no luck in getting it. Hopefully this can and will help those who are having any gear issues.

If you have taken all the possible gear at the beginning there will be a higher chance of getting it. Otherwise the chances may be extremely low.

Well i use exploit clitch on toy store and farm for 2 hour max all gear . Next time i find a gear it show nothing :)

Its a mode you unlock after finishing the game once, its the hardest difficulty in the game and when you die and run out of money, you will reset from the latest checkpoint. Other then that theres nothing different about it.

Actually you can get this at the spot where the interracial couple from the beginning of the game thanks you. Grab gear, turn around. Head left to end of hallway, grab other gear. If no Winter Shield, reload.

when finding the infusions is it a good idea to always pick a different bottle to level up either your salts, health, or shield, or is one better then the other and i should just upgrade one first then move on to the next one??

So basically burning halo and winter shield are the best with burning halo being the best for the start of the game but later on just upgrade to a more powerful version or edition

Plant down 10 Devil's Kiss traps at her spawn points (there's a video on it); just make sure you've got it fully upgraded. Bam!

+Justin Galloway. Or use Shock Jokey to shock enemies, and then shoot them (Hand Cannon with 25% damage upgrade is one shot one kill) making their bodies disappear and become unrevivable. Then just run and shoot her.

Jonah Brown I still have to play 1999 mode, but I'm pretty sure the melee build works fine there too, you spam Charge combined with the gear that gives salts on the melee kills (don't remember the name) and with Overkill for max damage, and you're practically invincible.

I always try to find Overkill, because I'm more of an "kill them before they kill you" than a "protect yourself as much as possible" guy. Plus, I like the suspense of low health. Besides, where's the fun in being overpowered?

I just wanted to see how u explain winter shield... I also played through Bio Shock Inf when it first released on hard for my first time and I just re-installed 2 years later and I'am now using max settings since I have a new 1070 Gtx GPU and a i7 skylake instead of a i5 4690k.... Now im running max settings and really enjoying this game on 1999 Mode, and I also realized last night that Winter Shield is basically like cheating.. lol , i mean Im using it, 1999 mode is a bitch :D !!

Adverse.TH1RST I f you play Bioshock infinite again I suggest you try elemental storm with the RPG. I don't know why but for some reason this gear applies it's chain reaction affect to the RPG, it seems to think the RPG projectile is a devils kiss grenade. The result of this makes the RPG the ultimate room clearing weapon. It's like a portable nuke launcher
