An entire abandoned town, largely intact. And Werner the Cat Whisperer 😆🐈 Great find.

Cheers Stan. One of the best ghost towns I've found so far.

the wooden hatch you stood on is a beer drop door cellar access where they would lower or carry beer and wine barrels and later kegs into the cellar

Random Christmas stuff stashed in closed shops - very spookey spiders infesting basements and cellars - look up - look up !!! No roofs on old buildings plus two lovely cats following you about ! Made my day - cause you can forget about lockdown when you are vicariously travelling with the intrepids !!!

Terowie didn't end up like it is due to farming... When the Transhipping ceased and Hiways Dept built the bypass is what killed the joint.
@IntrepidsRus3 ай бұрын
Ah yes, Terowie also struggled with water and had an asbestos problem among other things! Thanks for stopping by

@@IntrepidsRus They did! There's a house on Main St, it once was a bank (not the E,S & A) it was my grandparents, easily the best house in town... it had lawns! Because they had two large underground tanks, plus a cpl of corrugated iron jobs. Everyone else had to have water carted in. My mum and Nanna were born in Terowie, the rest of both sides are from the area. One grandfather was Station Master, the other was in the Transhipping. I took mum up there 3yrs ago (she's 90), it near made her cry.. (as did showing her your video!). When she read Ghost town, she rekns people are still up there, how's it a ghost town? It was such a proud town. You're up late!

@@IntrepidsRus I was diagnosed with ADHD a few yrs back, insomniac too! My grandad played footy up there (he coached too) they had 2 teams at one time. The team grandad played for went unbeaten for 2 yrs. The district cricket team beat the state team at Adelaide Oval 1937 (from memory) there's a pic of em... grandads got a smoke!! The asbestos laying around was due to the bloke who bought the Railway Station pulling everything down for scrap.. If you saw pics from when it was up and running sheds went up out of town towards P'borogh. It was a big operation. Those cars, the old 30s-50s used to be over the road from the grandparents (now the Botanic gardens!) stacked 3 high, l had a collection of hood ornaments. Most of the cars were crushed for scrap. I did see your video showing the backstreets of Terowie, mum lived in Packer St then Mitchell St as a kid, went to the Catholic School.. Nanna wd drag us to midnight mass on Xmas Eve... I spent most school hols up there, had other family in different houses ld go bother as a kid. They left in 77, the house was full of turn of the century furniture, a big mahogany table used by the bank, hate to think what some of its worth now! Take care, enjoyed your clips. Thanks.

Boy i could tell some tales about that ol town. House fire capital of Australia, riddled with asbestos. I could even show you the actual Terrowie, or at least where it used to be. (Terowie) translation = Hidden waters.
