Hello! I have heard some mixed reviews about this product. I am just about to order it but I had seen that after 15 photos are loaded, it requires you to purchase the monthly subscription and it does not let you delete photos without they subscription either. Could you confirm this?

Thank you for this review! I had already done research and purchased this, the idea for a wedding gift is great! Our Nana is turning 100 in February, so though the frame arrived late for Christmas due to a backorder situation, we received it A MONTH before the backorder date!!! WOW! Extra note for y'all. Our Nana doesn't have WiFi in the nursing home, so the 8gig of memory is important in more than one way. This CAN be used offline! We're going to upload photos before sending it. Then local family members will get the frame from the nursing staff occasionally to take home, connect to WiFi, and upload more. On a personal note, the subscription for the extra features is worth it. It's reasonably priced, and annual - not monthly, and being able to upload videos (even without sound we can hold up signs for happy birthday, etc - because she's very hard of hearing), plus the ability to add captions to photos so she can know who is in the pics, and where they were taken. Especially with her nursing home being on lock down without visitors, it's a great way for everyone to keep her in touch with our lives. Even more important for those of us half a nation away!

The issue is giving a small third-party company your email, phone number, and WiFi password to allow two-way access to your router. The security risk isn’t worth the benefit, particularly when other companies that likely already have your personal information (like Google if you are using KZbin right now) have smart frames that can be shared with family via cloud, do more out of the box like “hey Google”, never require a paid subscription for full features, and are less expensive.

We got one for our parents, but it only worked on my sister's Wi-Fi during set-up. On our parents' WiFi, it continuously kept saying 'Signal Lost' despite inputting the correct WiFi password, therefore never adding new pix confirmed through the app. Further, it was placed within 10 feet of the WiFi hub, so distance was not an issues. Finally, the menu button on the back doesn't do anything nor is mentioned in Skylight's online help. Now granted, we don't have the annual paid subscription, it looks like that menu option is still not functionable. We're returning it & checking to see if Pix-Star will work better, especially since it allows connection to a Google Photos album.

On their website, it says that there isn't a way to adjust the brightness. It also says that was from one year ago. Is this a newer feature? I'm wondering because I just gave one to my grandmother in the nursing home, like 2 weeks ago. I'm writing her a simple list of things she can do. I was going to tell her that she cannot adjust the brightness. Can you tell me if she can or cannot?

I was able to change the brightness with the buttons on the back of the frame. (The circle on the back which has 4 buttons) They were not labeled as brightness though. The model on the back of the frame was 'Model NO.: Skylight 2'

She is in a nursing home, stuck in her room due to coronovirus. Scary times for people in nursing homes! We can't get in to see her, but a social worker was able to help her easily set this frame up. What a blessing for her and our family!

@@Ramimaa6 Hi! She does like it. The nursing home social worker helped her to set it up. (I did everything from my end that I could right away.) But then the social worker kept the manual apparently, so when she mentioned that the pictures were coming in the wrong way, I sent her a typed up list of all the things she can do, like turning the photos, zooming in and out, what the heart was for, etc. That seems to have helped her! My mom talked to her on Sunday, and she's checking it a couple of times a day, so that's a good sign. I used the trial for the Plus subscription, which I didn't think I'd necessarily like. But now today I just bought it (with a $10 discount code). My mom also said however, that when someone calls her, it turns on her frame!?! She could hear my voice in the background. I'm wondering if she bumps it when she grabs her phone or what, lol. But that's why I'm on here today, to send her a little write up of the buttons on the OUTSIDE of the frame. I don't want her to have to relisten to every video I have sent her, when it's on the slideshow. That's another reason to get Plus. She's not been deleting anything, so I could do that from the app. I don't want my videos to take up all of the space, and kick off my cousins pictures. No one else has been sending videos, but I think it's a great option! I feel like she has gotten to know my little kids better, 40 seconds at a time. I did a video just of the birds singing one day, as she isn't allowed to open her window, since people were taking advantage of that from the outside. So, overall, totally worth every penny!! And she's obviously not he most tech savvy, and she was able to pretty much figure it out, with just a tiny bit of assistance. Overtime I have no doubt she'll have everything figured out. But from the get go, she was at least able to see and hear everything without really doing anything. This was the best frame choice for her, because of the ease of use.

The resolution is 1280 x 800. So not as good as your monitor, but most people won't be looking at the photos from really close all the time. I thought it was average from different angles.

This is good for sharing photo's, and watching the photo's display in the order received for 10 seconds. It is simple to use. That is what you get for the purchase price. Fair. If you would like to customize anything to your preference you must first purchase the annually renewing $39 'Plus' package! Not fair. In 'Plus' you are not receiving anything that is not loaded already. Warranty? There is absolutely no warranty, you buy the frame as is. If it is faulty out of the box, tough. The company owners should not be financed any more than the purchase price. If it lasts 5 years, you will have spent $195 in addition to the purchase price. That's a terrible value. Keep it simple and enjoy.

It mimics a photo frame, which often has a passepartout, that's the white bit, which itself is in a frame, that's the brown bit. A real nice design I think. I wouldn't dream of giving my father a Google Hub, which would cause instant panic. This photo thingie however is ideal for him because once I set it up for him he doesn't have to have any knowledge of it, he can just watch the pictures go by.
