MechaGodzilla was stronger because he got that energy source to fuel him and the skills of ghidorah/ Kevin who was able to concentrate his lighting breath. Meaning that he was stronger, and don’t forget the missiles, thrusters, power punches, etc they gave him.

Mechagodzilla was super OP in this movie, the way it should be. That way Godzilla has to team up with Kong to defeat it etc. I still think the way they were able to introduce Mechagodzilla into this franchise and make it work (and not be super cheesy) as good as it does is amazing. I hope that means, if there are more movies in the monsterverse - we get Destroyah etc down the line. Heh, or Mechaghidora.

Don't forget one also piece of callback. When Ghidorah took over Mechagodzilla, this isn't the first time that happened. In the manga adaptation of the Heisei movie "Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2" Mechagodzilla was built out of the remains of Mecha-King Ghidorah's mechanical head that was salvaged. The mecha bested Godzilla by the climax until the programming of Mecha-King Ghidorah took over the controls from G force and completely brutalized Godzilla to near death until Rodan gave his life to give Godzilla a second wind.

I noticed in their first fight, Godzilla was trying to pull Kong through a rift under the sea back to the hollow earth. Godzilla was trying to bring Kong home.

I can’t believe that the Godzilla vs Kiryu reference wasn’t on this list. The scene where Ghidora’s consciousness from his skull takes over Mechagodzilla is a direct parallel to the 1954 Godzilla taking over Kiryu with his skull’s consciousness.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but when MechaG comes out of the mountain and looks at Godzilla he makes a series of 3 noises, the pattern sounds like a mechanical recriation of Ghidorah's alpha call in King of the Monsters. It's like at that moment, Ghidorah was letting Godzilla know who MechaG really is, Like saying: "Guess who's back Bitch"
