Thanks, Carlos. You're videos are superb. i have acquired, while mourning for my mom, many hours of relaxation through watching the white sharks you capture. I hope the new year brings many more interesting encounters with "Bruce's" kin. I like Jaws, even though I've been pro-shark since I was little. I think, for me , it's about the streamlined grace of a white than the kill count. Any more about very young juveniles? That was an incredible shot. Happy New Year, one and all!

I live in Sonoma County and have surfed, fished, and dived the Northern California Coast for over 40 years. I have at least a dozen direct white shark experiences - over half being extremely aggressive incidents. I have personally know 6 fellow local surfers that have survived extreme white shark attacks half of which were obvious predation attempts. I as well as a few fellow fishermen/surfers have developed some theories into white shark behavior. It would be interesting to share notes. Feel free to reach out if you would like to know the stories.

Such amazing videos. Perhaps you should contact some of the top drone manufacturers and see if a small speaker could be fitted to the drone? Essentially designing a drone for shark spotting and audible warning functionality to aid swimmers. Add a small microphone at the control end and off you go..
@Spangletiger17 күн бұрын
This video should be titled "The Best of the Best..." ! I had to look up domoic acid poisoning, its cause and how it enters the food chain, because I hadn't heard of it. The algae responsible thrive in warm waters so could the rise in poisoned shellfish be another symptom of global warming and increased water temperatures? If the poison attacks the sea lion's nervous system, this might be why the sharks were curious but cautious about preying on the stricken seal. As sharks can detect prey by sensing their electrical field, I am wondering if the poision affected that sea lion's nervous system, causing a disruption to its electrical field, this is what the sharks were detecting and why they were put off. If that's the case then that's good news for sharks but, if there is a risk of eating a poisoned sea lion and being poisoned as a result, it's not good news for orcas.
@christineheminger77624 күн бұрын
10:09 It makes sense that sharks would be able to smell (or otherwise sense) domoic acid poisoning and recognize that it wouldn’t be good for them to eat a victim of it-especially if the causes of that were happening before humans started messing things up Beautiful. Thank you for the opportunity to see this

My only "fear" or "issue" with humans in the kayaks and paddle boards , is them intentionally bothering, and the unknown reaction from a GW. We know GW are very curious, maybe even one of the top nosey sharks and at any point one can tail flip, dorsal fin or nudge with nose. We know that isn't predatory, but once someone is in the water, they leave themselves subjected to taste testing. That may not be life threatening, and definitely isn't the sharks fault, but who wants the trauma and injury? Of course I'm speaking of a specific situation, and the what ifs could be endless without some guidelines. I would feel the same if it was a bull shark, although the two species are not exactly alike. Your work is amazing and brings me to a place in life, that nothing else can do, watching every upload. Aside from the videography excellence, your narration is always informative and warm.

People who paddle board around Great White Sharks are asking for it. We had a few knocked off their boards and were very lucky to not sustain injuries. It's only a matter of time.😱🇦🇺 What I just watched was insanity!

Do you ever see them successfully hunting? I don't see any on this channel; is it because you don't see any? Or that it isn't published because it is not on-brand for this channel?
@TheMalibuArtist10 күн бұрын
Predations are extremely hard to document regardless of species. Especially because most of their feeding is done at night. If you actually followed my channel, you'd know I've shared predations before, on fish and rays, even a dolphin getting eaten. But the Hollywood type of predation you are searching for isn't very common to see. There's no conspiracy, there's only reality. I film reality and there, it's very rare to see a kill.
@tichu710 күн бұрын
@@TheMalibuArtist thanks, I didn't mean to say there was a conspiracy. You've shown with your hours of footage that the white sharks have very little interest in humans. But the rarity of seeing them hunt any other species at the surface could mean that a) they are most active at dawn/duck/evening (as you've explained) , b) they swim at the surface for reasons other than hunting (I know they are capable of generating heat, and swimming in the warmer surface could help their energy levels for when descend to the deeper, cooler waters). Either way, humans would have even less reason to fear the sharks if we are observing a pattern of sharks not showing an interest in *any* food type at the surface, during the day.
