I think this is one of the greatest compositions of the 20th century. That sounds like hyperbole but hooooooly shit. The cavernous half-reggae beat turns into darkness turns into tri-fucking-umphant rock and roll. This particular rendition has some inspired improvisation and interplay between piano and guitar. The guitar player does some excellent shredding at the end. I can't believe I got to hear these guys live just 3 weeks ago. What a show... what a fuckin show. Immaculate sound, performances, and while I don't know how it would be possible everyone there was 10x as pumped as me and that's my _church_, man. Music praising the glory and wonder of our existence that makes a person feel more connected with their fellow human and the universe. You can feel good about Hood.

@rockguitarist9312 жыл бұрын
@j eliot because the Grateful Dead came up with the idea of improvising live shows to connect with fans instead of playing carefully rehearsed sets to sell albums, then Phish took that idea and put their own spin on it. It'd be like a manufacturing plant thanking Henry Ford for the assembly line.

My all-time favorite, though, is the one from Walnut Creek '97 (7/22/1997, yeah, the show they released as a DVD with the giant storm during Taste), which is also criminally not included on the .net Jam Chart for the song.
