I mean, it's mainstream/normie headphones. They don't really have anything in a similar price range to compare these to so when they go from their dollar store earphones to these, these sound "amazing" plus aesthetics, a lot of people care more about aesthetics than sound quality.

I get it, the XM5s are also pretty good for “normie” headphones as well but you have to understand, these are not built purely for that sweet sweet audio, nor are a lot of other mainstream headphones. These have more features for their target consumer while having some alright sound, I can’t say I have seen an S+ tier headphone that has the same features as the XM5s and sound just as good with those features at the same capacity

Imma say it, the sony wh1000xm4s are hot garbage. Just bass and meh everything else. It's just V-shaped and nothing else. Anc is good tho. Drop x thx pandas are better for the same price but don't have the same features the sony does like anc, etc. but the sound is def worth it. They are much more balanced and you can actually hear other instruments and not just the bass.

In terms of sound I think the WF 1000 XM3 is better, but it’s fit is very uncomfortable. Still if I had to go for Sony products Idd go for the IER - Z1R, basically the best bass you can get out of any IEM.

I got these a while ago. I got them from eBay open box because of the huge 300& price tag and got them for like 180. You forgot about the feature that you put your right hand on the right side of the headphones then you can hear surroundings and the built in Alexa and a lot more. Also the bass can be adjusted

Should I buy the xm5 or the xm4 model? They both cost the same here and I want an overall good headphone for music/studying/gaming/general use. I also want something that is more durable, something that lasts longer. I also don't really travel much. But I do really like ANC/Transparency.

I did some research on this and from what I’ve found the xm5 offers slightly better quality but at the cost of “inconvenience” some would say. With the xm5, you can’t fold the headphones, but since you said you didn’t travel much anyways it should be fine. Another thing I noticed is that the xm5 is slightly bigger and uses different material to the xm4. For most people they found it to be an improvement, but there’s still a handful of people that didn’t like it. If you haven’t bought the headphones yet, I would suggest going for the xm5 as the sound quality is better than that of the xm4’s and also because you don’t travel a lot. I myself am planning to buy the xm4s the coming Black Friday just because I like the feature of folding headphones and fitting them in a compact space. At the end of the day, it’s just preference and I highly recommend you do research on both models and potentially other models like the Sonys 910, Sonys 720, or Bose anc headphones to see if one style fits what your looking for more.

well, as things are going people all the teens will get this Sony 4, so, If you're buying them to make yourself special or look cool, just remember that won't last long enough, It's better to buy a treadmill or gym memshirp, you know things that will develop your face structure on their unique way, so that, by the time you're older and can affort this headphones as it was nothing then... they look more unique in you, with jaw gains, cheekbones, hollow cheeks,etc.
