MechWarrior Online is a free-to-play vehicular combat video game, officially launched during September 2013 by Piranha Games for Microsoft Windows. The game takes place within the larger #BattleTech universe. In MechWarrior: Online, players takes the role of a ""MechWarrior"" who pilots large bipedal combat vehicles known as BattleMechs (Mech for short). Players can customize their BattleMech with an array of weapons and equipment, and engage in 12 versus 12 battles, the outcome of which earns the players experience and c-bills for future BattleMech purchases and customization. There are currently seven game modes that involve protecting and attacking a single base (Assault), capturing and holding several points (Conquest), take and hold the center of the map (Domination), attacking a space defense system (Siege/Counter-Attack), protecting and attacking field bases with turrets and walls spread across the map (Incursion), and team death-match (Skirmish).

@@Spidkid91 hey! I wanted to offer my personal opinion since you had mentioned the Koloss! Overall the Koloss is hands down my favorite assault mech in the game, maybe even my favorite mech in general. It’s a face hugger- find some unlucky guy who isn’t paying attention/face hug the first guy you see on a flank and he will be insta-deleted. With that said however, I’ve had more of an issue having a more consistent fun time with it since reaching tier 2+. The meta seems to shift to more of a long range style so the close range play style of the Koloss has made it much more difficult for me as of late to enjoy it in QP as much as I used to. For the 2v2/4v4 EQ events however I have found the Koloss to stand out again. I run 2 LBX20s tied to 6 SRM6s…super hot but super fun.

well with mine did't look at much sides the mech appearance and the paint job : got the shadowcat Mish and Cata BB and the Sorch - went with the flea as my light was torn between raven and flea. More like the fantasy mech more then the humanoid shaped ones. Struggled eary on with the lazor shadowcat enjoyed it a little more later skills. The sorch fresh out of the box feels nice. Cata is fine with a team, haven't tried Flea yet.

I'm probably going to grab another Grinner, maybe one of the Phoenix Hawks (I like the paintjob of the Roc, and I've got the recommended Mediums already), another Virago and I'll snag either the Koloss or the Rancor. I like the look of the Koloss but I've not owned a Blood Asp yet.

Here's a question for those with all the mechs in the game: What hero mechs are good for having multiples of for faction play and other event matches with drop decks? Haven't gotten all the mechs yet, but I've been eyeballing those Tempests for some years by now. ; ) But... I'm also happy to look out for things that are great with high hardpoints for peeking, are especially good tankers (quirks+hitboxes), can fight properly & still have other special things going for them (extra consumables, better capture, better seismismic, etc.).

Kit fox for peeking, crab for great medium tanking (tho not a hero the 27b), the Black Widow with torso mount weapons is a good mix of peeking/tanking and the Stalker is by far the best assault for tanking damage, where the Highlander with no screen shake during JJ is the best at peeking.

For faction specifically, I like the Virago. Fast heavy, not that much tonnage for the drop deck, high mounts. With the set of 8 you can run 4ERLL while getting an extra range quirk (long range is always good for faction) and a lower energy heat quirk.

not happy with the blackjack arrow, its not very armored, avg speed, and just not wowing me at all compared to many other medium chassis, sorry, pass on that thing, maybe as a sniper only, most combat gets it wiped quickly compared to a hunchback, or urbie

The Arrow is one of the strongest medium mechs out there and pretty much unrivaled in terms of mid-range DPS. If you're having trouble with it you need to work on your positioning and choice of engagements.

Armor violation. Lower armor on all parts (front and back) by 20 or to 0, then add it back. Most likely old import code from a mech that received new armor quirks with a later patch.
