I see what you mean. But it kind of makes sense in an in-universe way. Humans absolutely make working replicas of the stuff we first invented in sci-fi . I mean look at all the formerly British places named after British places. New York, New Jersey, and New Amsterdam come to mind , but there’s a bunch of Londons and Parises all over North America.

@@Primearch-GG wow, ya they really changed the entire lore build. Technically then... Halo puts humanity in better standings with the universe then since the story shows us finding the hidden pieces of the puzzle via intervention lol. Though since they started with portal tech, I very much so would like to have a reserve thruster entangled with a shard of a dyson swarm and put it on what would be the subreflector of a parabolic dish from a radio telescope lol. A makeshift solar sail and orion drive in one. Also could technically act as an EMP blast for something suddenly being near the portal opening up that close to a sun. At the very least it would attract heat seekers into the portal pretty dang quick lol.

@goatkiller6666 ай бұрын
@@leechowning2712 - I’ve always assumed it would get turned into the Dyson Sphere / Swarm right away. There would be first the moon base, so we can build the auto factories. That’ll spit up the material we’d use to build a planetary ring around Earth. Then it would start spitting out O’Neill cylinders, also for near earth use. Build Aldrin Cyclers for both Mars and Venus. It’s not even worth putting people on the ground of either planet. The process of putting an atmosphere on Mars would necessarily destroy any infrastructure we built. And if we’re putting stuff onto the ground, then we’re having to fight that planet’s gravity well for take-off and landing. It’s simpler to use the rocks with no atmosphere. And it’s WAY cheaper to use solar powered mass drivers to launch processed ores where we’ll need it. And the sooner the Dyson Swarm goes up, the sooner we can power everything else.

@jackhell92636 ай бұрын
Well that is, in my opinion, a waste. after all after you blew up the planet you can still mine it for resources
@firedirewolf6 ай бұрын
@@jackhell9263 the Halo preserves the planet for the most part for microscopic organisms and plant life to keep it viable to colonization and mining without pressure suits or risk of colliding with debris Kessler syndrome. Sure, you might could use shields and just stop a kessler syndrome, but you'd need to keep your shields up at all times while mining. Edit. Plus, now you have to actually go hunting for the bits when you bat it away with landing gear or the gravity of the sun starts moving it into an astroid belt.
@jackhell92636 ай бұрын
@@firedirewolf OK I see your point. Think is I don't know enough about Halo to understand the Rings so I thought it would be easier with a death star. On another note if we are in a sci-fi age we're our technology is a mismatch of different Alien tech wouldn't we have some sort of mining equipment for space that protects us? Plus you don't have to worry about gravity and put large clunk's of resources in "space refineries?" to be processed without much hassle. On the other hand I see the problem with using the Death star tha with blowing up a planet that you then have to worry about parts flying off and destroying whatever is out there.
@firedirewolf6 ай бұрын
@@jackhell9263 ya it isn't entirely certain what the halo does cause it seems to do different things in different editions because Bungie can't keep their stories straight when they fire their writers. There are pros to a deathstar in that you don't need a stellar lifter or orbital elevator to get things off world though cooling equipment in space for things like smelting is much harder without gasses dispersing the heat. There is also the benefit that most of it will be in elemental node chunks since it won't break evenly though without good scanners that becomes as much of a gamble on what piece you find as just going down through the stratas of planet. a final thought is that it is a wild line of issues with having a mixed bag of sciences from other aliens. Who knows if you've got the best crash couches and survival equipment around but you gotta wear it cause you're still rocking lead, uranium and just being thicker to prevent radiation from busting in.
@jackhell92636 ай бұрын
@@firedirewolf I disagree on one thing about the amount of safety/hazard equipment that would be available. Humanity is so dump as it is smart. And if there is one universal truth about Humanity is that we learn from our mistakes. The way this HFY story was flavord, if I remember correctly, sun expanded and swallowed mercury. Now somewhere here there is a comment that said that this will only happen approximately 2 billion years or so in the future. 2 BILLION YEARS. Now tell me you don't think humans won't do any mistakes in that time frame and won't learn a thing do you?
