You had me laughing when you pulled up to the Silver Reef and proclaimed it’s 96 outside and HOT! We live in Las Vegas and absolutely love, love, love the heat combined with very little humidity. We were in Zion a few months before you and were unhappy that it was only in the 80’s. We love to camp places where it’s 100 degrees, and at home we get a bit depressed when it drops below 100. Oh, and we keep the pool a minimum of 87 and prefer the pool about 90. Couldn’t help but laugh and smile when you both thought it was hot.

We were there a week ago. Confusion is an understatement! It had been 22 years since we’d been there and the shuttle/visitor/getting around thing! What a mess!!! We opted to drive through, turn around and come back, did see bighorn sheep on the way back. We’ll definitely be back again since we have family in St. George!

Try using simple green in your gray tanks. Pour a gallon in and let it set overnight, or on a travel day, let it slosh during travel. On of the road techs told me this, works very good.

Not sure about your experience but the one thing about hiking the narrows that i would recommend is to bring some other shoes to change into when you come out of the water. that last mile to the shuttles will ripe your wet feet apart in those neat rented shoe/socks...great video. The whole Zion/Bryce area is such a beautiful and fun area!!!! Thanks for sharing

Back in about 1978 I took my daughters on that trip, through the canyonlands...the elder was 9, the younger was 7. We walked partway up the trail; don't remember if we reached the part to get to the river and get feet wet, but we turned around at that point, as it was threatening to rain, and the flash flood warning signs made us nervous. Just as we got back to the parking lot, it did start to rain, and then it came down in buckets, thunder and lightning and the works. We were stuck sitting in the car for an hour or so until the storm passed. We were tent camping, and figured with lightning, the car was the safer place to be! LOL Did you do weeping cavern? That was also a cool place that was refreshing in the heat.

Glad we did this in more simple times. We got off the shuttle picked out a couple cool hand made walking sticks leaning up against the wall ( bank ) in the river. Then we hiked the narrows. We went quite far up in and it was fun. Seems like the experience has been bastardized for profit!

It’s so sad how overpopulated this hike has become in the last 15 years. It’s just a shame bc it’s so gorgeous, but not even the least bit enjoyable as packed as it gets. I really wish they would limit people who can hike here, as well as Angel’s Landing. Unfortunately Zion has become the Disney World of national parks which is so upsetting. I’m glad you guys enjoyed it though.
