Talk about brilliant timing. I am new to your channel, liked and subscribed btw, but was just about to pull the trigger on a new weather station for install at our Acreage property in the southern region of Tasmania. I think your review supports the weather station chosen, we is a good thing 😂 Look forward to watching more episodes and seeing future ones as they arrive. All the best for 2025 - we are Guaranteed to beat you to the new year again 👍

I have had my Tempest for the last 3 years and it has been bullet proof and very accurate when measured against manual instruments🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thank you for a great video

I had a AW 2000. Lasted about 4 years before the rain gauge stopped working. The console just went out about 5yrs later. I am looking for a higher quality unit. Davis seems like it will be my choice from the reviews I have seen. Many people say they last well over 10 years! Thanks for the info! You are very knowledgeable.

I've always been happy with Davis, they're a great company with very knowledgeable support!

Very interesting that you review weather stations of 2025 when the video was originally published in 2024
@theweatherstationexpertsАй бұрын
We publish our list yearly in December of the previous year, as people start looking towards the new year. Additionally, it's commonplace for manufacturers to release gadgets in the holiday season (for obvious reasons). Our previous lists were released real late because we had only started experimenting with KZbin.

What is the range of the internet Wi-Fi for these units.My community garden is 6 miles away from were I live.

You’d need a cellular station for that …

I started with Davis in late 1980s. All analog in those days. In 2012 I installed a Davis Vantuge view and used it 12 years. Replaced it in 2023. Always very good results from it. I did learn to install it about 5' above ground for most accurate rainfall results. In 2021 when Weather Underground did away with webcams I purchased an Ambient WS-2902C. It has worked very well but rainfall is often off when compared to Cocorahs measurements. Vantage Vue is much more accurate for rainfall. I went the Ambient because I could post a webcam picture on their website. When you are living in far south Texas it's fun in January when your northern friends can see people in and around the swimming pool. For the dollars the ambient equipment is very good.

My first was I believe the Weather Monitor II, a christmas gift from my grandmother (i do remember they somehow got a good deal on it), then I had the original Vantage Pro2 for a bit. And that's what i say about Ambient, as long as you understand what you're getting, it's a great deal (although some aren't as good as others)

Do any of these measure snow? Which would be the best to deal with cold icy weather? I can’t even use a regular rain gage because it will rain, then freeze hard in the night before emptying the gage, and the frozen rain cracks the gage. I live in the mountains in the northwest.

The Tempest has a local UDP API. You can integrate that into your home IP without any internet connection. Also agree with the battery being an issue with Tempest mine died a while ago. There is a way to replace them though with a bit of tinkering and that's my plan to keep it running
@YeOldeTravellerАй бұрын
Glad to hear about the API. Thanks for sharing.

I live in Newfoundland and my house is right next too the ocean. We regularly get storms with wind gust over 120kph (75mph). What do you recommend for high salt content and high wind gusts for a good durable weather station?
@theweatherstationexperts24 күн бұрын
You will need to keep in mind here that ANY weather station isn't going to get the lifespan most will. I'd stay away from Ambient or Ecowitt. From the videos i have maybe 50 data points... and average lifespan seems about 3-5 years. I know one in FL said he averages 2-3 years on his 2902. My recommendation would be the Davis Vantage Vue
@Lifeistooshort6724 күн бұрын
Thank you for the recommendation. I will report back when it fails. Lol

I was tempted by the Tempest and similar. Then I realized... I don't think the Tempest rain sensor will catch the "edge of snow country" precipitation common in my area (2/3 to 3/4 of annual precip). So much precip comes as snow that melts on contact or soon after and my current cheap "tipping bucket" style counts it well.

Agreed. Love the lightning detection. I just don’t understand why they don’t use haptics somewhere else instead of attempting to reinvent something that was good enough already 🤷♂️

Ecowitt WS90 vs my Tempest…The temperature reacts faster on WS90 vs. Tempest Station for whatever reason. Any experience with that?

I have the WS90 in a box at the moment. I will check into that now that you said it. That review will be up in January... ran out of time this year.

I have the same issue , Tempest WeatherFlow and a Davis Vantage Vue and the readings on Tempest temperatures are slower to react than the Davis . So must be the chacteristics of the Tempest stations maybe? Other than being slower it is very accurate .

Wow , I didn’t come for political commentary. Yeah Weather stations from overseas might end up costing more. Creating opportunities for American based companies.
@theweatherstationexperts13 күн бұрын
Sensitive much? Talking about tarriffs when our ratings are 25% cost based should be expected. Honestly tiring of this. Tell me you don't understand manufacturing or the market without actually saying it. No AMERICAN MADE station is completely manufactured here. I am gonna say this once and not again in here, if you're for one side or the other and can't think outside that, you'll hate this channel. I deal in facts.
@garyradtke3252Ай бұрын
Just maybe the tariffs will help prevent another country dominating us more than they have already. Some people don't understand that tariffs ALSO hurt the selling country by causing their pricing to be more in line with reality instead of selling near or below cost of manufacturing therefor causing a drop in sales. Given the price is already marginal, it would hurt their bottom line. I would bet that Trump is counting on the tariffed countries to come to the table instead of just accepting the tariffs. It seems to be working with Mexico and Canada even at this point. Time will tell. Another thing. If you want to be political put it in the title. Otherwise just do what your title indicates and that is to evaluate a product which now I can't seem to give it any serious validity do to the politics involved. It looks to me like the video is a cover for your political bashing of a president that has a successful history of using tariffs and the threat of them to help the USA. I may not be exactly right about the theory but I am certainly close.
@theweatherstationexpertsАй бұрын
Oh come on. I am sorry but this is ridiculous that I mention tariffs and this is somehow political. And to be honest, on a completely unpolitical level, a higher price would completely change ratings. Take this elsewhere as it isn’t welcome here.
