We are actually doing level 1 with a 4th grader and 6th grader. We do day one and 2 in one day and day 3 and 4 on day 2. I do not scribe but they write their own sentences. It is working so great as an addition to our copywork etc. My 6th grader had vision issues and hated writing so this has been an excellent way and gentle to get hilm to write without resistance.

For someone who was about to purchase the TGTB for my 8yr old, I think this is a better curriculum choice for us. Thanks a lot. I’ve found a lot do your videos really insightful. From London, UK.

What level do you think would be good to start a 4th grader in if they haven’t had much writing direction other than writing narrations. Right now they are quite sloppy. But I don’t want to start with 1 and take 4 years to get through all those levels. And be done in grade 8. 😅 Any recommendations for a plan of action with writing with ease? I did get writing rhetoric for her but we haven’t started that yet. I am thinking more direction would be good before starting writing rhetoric?

Level 1 would probably be too basic for a 4th grader. But you could definitely start with level 2 followed by 3. If they master 3, there’s no need to do 4. It’s essentially a review of 3. That would give you a solid foundation in writing an organized narration/summary and be ready for more technical writing curriculum beginning in 6th.
