Hi Eric and Allison, just a few pointers: Vermicelli rolls = rice flour rolls. They're one and the same thing. In Hong Kong, Vermicelli are thin noodles made from rice flour. You get lots of different fillings, but my favourite would be dried baby shrimp, for that shrimp flavour and firm texture. Fried "carrot" cake can sometimes be translated as "turnip" cake, or radish cake on the menu. Technically, "radish" is more correct - they are made from Chinese radish, which are actually quite different to the radishes you might find in your supermarket. The "carrot" translation comes from the fact that in Chinese, a Chinese radish is transliterated as "white carrot". Stuffed peppers are usually stuffed with a fish paste. They're also one of my favourites, personally. Did you end up trying wonton noodles in soup? That's pretty much Hong Kong's national dish, if I may say so myself :) I remember Mark Wiens tried it in a video once when he was in Hong Kong. The broth is very rich and flavourful, unlike the macaroni in soup you had earlier.

When in Vietnam I highly recommend these 2 things. 1. Go to My Son Cham. The ruins are incredible, though sad to see what we destroyed during the war. 2. Go to the abandoned water park Thuy Tien. You are allowed to go and walk around, though there is a small entrance fee (it's just some locals).

Dim sum is meant to the shared. Almost all food ordered in Chinese style is shared family style. The dim sum is placed in the center and then you eat out of a separate empty bowl or plate. You pick the items from the plates and put into your own bowl or plate.

Try the egg tarts ('dan tat') and and the turnip cake, sticky rice in lotus leaves, char siu bbq pork, roasted goose or duck, roasted pork with the crackly skin, soft tofu dessert, red bean dessert soup, wonton soup.... so many great things to enjoy!

You should have tried the shrimp dumplings and the mango sago dessert at Tim Ho Wan. The shrimps are very plump and juicy. The shrimp vermicelli roll is basically a larger version of the shrimp dumpling but with a tasty sauce.

All that dim sum looked so yummy. I didn’t recognize some of the dim sum because not all of them seemed traditional. My favorite is the turnip cake and the crystal shrimp dumplings. The rice rolls with the shrimp and the rice rolls with the beef are a must also. They’re usually served with either dark soy sauce or plum sauce. And you can always eat the buns with your hands

Those BBQ pork buns are the ones I like rather than the white fluffy ones. I was surprised when we moved here at how sweet those crispy ones are! Think we'll try the first place you went next. The crunchy cartilage bits are good for your skin, cartilage is everywhere here! Never order 7 items, it's like a funeral! Close call.

One thing I realize is seems people grew up with western food do not have the taste bud for more subtle flavour and aquired certain numbness to some taste. Like you can hear them say tea is tea, they all taste the same. Rice do not have taste, etc.

Oh yes, loving this foodie episode, yummy :) You two are naturals, I feel like I'm there eating with you. But maybe it helps that Hong Kong's one of our favorite stops. Honest speaking, you ordered six dishes but three of them are not traditional Chinese dim sum. By the way, most important part of dim sum is tea that the restaurant should offer you different kind of tea to pick, such as Pu’er, Jasmine, Oolong, Shoumei, Longjing.

Hey guys the comment I’m gonna make isn’t meant to be taken as a put down I swear because yalls content is great. I’m just hoping y’all get back to more travel videos and less food tours and places to eat etc. I always enjoy seeing places I’ll probably never see in real life and I ya met been getting that over last several months. The bread looked a lot like Bapoa I know from Indonesia. But they steam it there. So the consistency is more like the piggiebread you had in the second restaurant. I LOVE bapoa. I have tried dimsum but I guess I never had the right one. I didn't really like it. Great video👍
