Superb video. Been fishing my whole life but never tried ice fishing. We moved to North Idaho a few years ago and I've been dreaming about getting out on some hardwater

Which brand of auto hook setters do you use? They look easier to manage than a jaw jacker and I’d like to try it. Keep these great ice fishing videos coming. I really enjoy your work!

Hey Tyler I’ve noticed you have some videos of Walleye fishing from your kayak but I haven’t seen you do any ice fishing for them. Have you ever tried to ice fish for them? Would like to see you catch some through the ice. Thanks for all your videos, very informative.

Its extremely rare for our Walleye lakes to freeze over. Hence the absence.

What action do you recommend for western trout? Medium, MH, H?
@spiltmilt3 жыл бұрын
Unless you are chasing big Lake Trout (Mackinaw) a Medium or Medium-light will suffice

Got a new Fenwick 30" in "Carbon". Same as graphite? And useable with auto setter?
@spiltmilt Жыл бұрын
Carbon and graphite are the same. Fine to use with auto setter

I have a totally opposite opinion about real seats, but other than that spot on assessment. Ill be damned if im spending money on a rod with no real seats and then electrical tape it.

I’m in Manitoba Canada and have fished some nearby trout lakes all summer and did well.. however I’ve only landed 3 all winter.. I have no idea why I’m getting no action.. I’m seeing the rainbows down my hole even, I’ve tried every bait and lure and nothing, what makes them so picky? Too much natural foood in the lake maybe?
@spiltmilt3 жыл бұрын
Too much food and depleted oxygen can make them sluggish too.

@@spiltmilt thank you for the advice, that makes perfect sense to me. I see a lot of fresh water shrimp down the holes.. they literally make crystal clear water look cloudy and dirty.

The thing I don't like about using electrical tape is the residue that "leaks" out from the edges. Any ideas there?
@spiltmilt3 жыл бұрын
I don't have that issue so not sure. They do heavy bands that will secure a reel in place.
