BEST invention for furniture makers

I continue to show archived videos. In this I make a soft headboard with my own hands. And perhaps the most useful thing that helps me in this matter is a hidden seam tape, popularly called "crocodile". She is asked about in every video, if she is used. Grab some power tools and make something small to start with, you'll want to make more stuff after it. I went to woodwork made hobbie horses and the single bed bunk beds and if I say so myself they where really sturdie.

Александр, когда прибиваешь царгу, что бы не мучиться по линейке шить скобой, можно использовать картон. полоски картона выставленные по линейке и пришитые скобой, дают идеально ровный край после подворота ткани

Damn now thats something.... i caved and bought my first ever headboard last year. 6 cm deep, 120 cm wide, 110 cm tall. Just a black "carpet" over it. Payed 140 usd. I felt that was way enough for my needs. Just wanted one to protect the painted wall. Cant imagine how much this must cost :o

I remember Chest'er found an old rotten chair by the RR tracks. I thought, no, there is nothing you can do with that. How wrong I was, he upholstered it with leather. I wonder if Chest'er knows how crazy expensive foam rubber is here in the US.

In the US it is called Upholstery Metal Flexible Tack Strip if that helps anyone. I found some on Amazon

Thanks, I didn't know what it is called. This really makes me wonder what they used before they invented this??? Would they have just stitched the seam and put it on like a pillow case? That is the only way I can figure out how to do it. I wish Chest'er would show a close up of the fabric he uses. This one looks more like for a dress or drapery, but it doesn't have to be very durable since it it just a headboard.

@@rockshot100 it looks like he used a faux suede on this one. When he’s doing the buttons and a couple of views towards middle/end of video it looks to have a short pile. But, I am not positive. I would still go with a heavy duty fabric for a headboard because some people lean back on it or there heads and pillows are hitting it a bunch. Plus I think a heavier upholstery fabric will hold its shape better. Just my 2 cents 😘

@@angelsandfaes It looks pretty flimsy. I agree, but he is the expert. Still it wouldn't get as much wear as the seat of a chair would. This would show dirt a mile away. He just covered a little girl's chair with gold lame. LOL. Could be that good fabric is extremely expensive where he lives. Seems a shame to do all this work and use very inferior fabric.

Love watching your videos ! So calming ! I do have a question, though. There is a small black box in the video. Is that some kind of video monitor ?! It would make sense as you just seem to focus on your work, not on the video. I'm just coming back to again applaud your skills again. To see a Tack hammer being used correctly, and then a mallet covered with the same cloth ~ that's a trick I hadn't heard of ! Such skill & craftsmanship. So beautiful!
