Top irons for myself for 2019 were the Wilson Staff FG V6 irons and the Ben Hogan PTx Pro irons...then the Callaway Apex Pro....these worked well for me and are very very close to performance just the price range was way way different....Happy Happy

returning to the the game after a 13 year absence, was fitted for Ping G410, 5 to SW, plus 4 hybrid and 410 3 wood and driver, absolutely love them, combined with great lessons will soon be back to where I was if not better. Keep up the good work James HNY

5. P790 4. Apex pro 3. Srixon z585 2. Srixon z785 1. Mp20 mmc - forgiving, compact with thin topline, and fantastic feel. The perfect players cavity back. I was underwhelmed by the HMB, too thick, not more distance than the mmc.

I have used a TM RAC MB in 6.0 Flighted Rifle shafts since they came out in 2007. I have dubbed them irreplaceable until I started to use a set Honma TW 747V in Modus 105 S stiff shafts. I love it because it was a seamless transition from a muscle back to a tour blade. I know that it’s not as popular as the 747VX or the Rose Proto, but for me, the 747V was a very pleasant surprise and personally, it think its the best set irons out there right now for someone looking for a tour player feel with just a touch of forgiveness

Been gaming the Apex Pros and I couldn’t be happier...except for maybe your top five, they are very appealing. I didn’t find the Blueprints that difficult to hit James. But you definitely know when the off center strike occurs. Had the P790 Black 3 iron in the bag, but so happy I matched my Apex Pros with the 4 iron Nippon Modus 120 S. Fitted, of course! Get fitted folks. It’s worth the time, so invest in yourself and your game. Maybe even fix a few swing faults along the way if you find a proper fitter. Cheers James!

Guessing James’s top 5: 1)P7TW - for me these have to go number one of your talking about significance and just coolness! Come on! They’re Tiger’s clubs! 2) Mizuno MP-20 (SEL)- Mizuno went all out in the design of these and more importantly finally made a lefty set! That alone deserves mention 3) Ping Blueprint Irons! They are amazing looking and the first true blades to ever come out of Ping! Plus the hydro pearl finish may well be a a game changer for the industry. 4) Callaway Apex/ Apex Pro Combo set. The fact that Callaway actually adjusted lofts to blend them and even color matched them makes this a truly unique set of irons. 5) TaylorMade P790 - the best selling clubs of the last 2 years belong on the list. Especially because they suit such a wide group of people. Not MY personal top 5... Mine are (clubs I’ve tried and made my top 5 to go in the bag this year) 1. T100 2. P760 3. Apex pro / Apex Combo set 4. MP20 SEL 5. Srixon z785 I’ll likely switch out my 718 AP2s at some point in 2020 and these irons, or their replacements will likely be on the list to try.

Looking for new irons to replace my Ping ie which I have never loved. Hit the Mizunos, P790, then hit the Honma TW-x and wow baby...they are awesome. Doing a full bag fitting on Saturday so will try them again.

I got a set of the Callaway Apex 19' Pro Smoke finish 3-PW for Christmas I went and got them fitted and oh my goodness they are amazing I agree with you 100 percent on the way they feel and look.

Love Mizuno blades, I found a set of MP-32s this year in excellent condition (look like they've only been used for 30 rounds or so) and they're really top class irons (the 4 iron is a bit tricky though!)

Good bunch of irons there James. Can’t really disagree with you, although I do love the WIlson Staff blades. Most gorgeous iron ever. But if they were to come in to the top 5 it would have to be at the expense of the Blueprints (blade for blade). And that’s tough cos they also look amazing. Maybe at end of 2020 you can do a “Top 5 Blades”, “Top 5 players irons”, “Top 5 game improvement irons” and so on.... Too many good clubs miss out with only 5 spots! Love ya work mate, keep it up in 2020 👍🏼👍🏼

Who am I kidding, I'm still playing with a set of TaylorMade Burner plus irons. Haven't found anything as easy or as forgiving to hit. Definitely wanted to try the Hogan Edge Irons, but no one stocks them in my area. Can't justify spending $800 on clubs I can't Demo first.

My top 2 and that's all I'm bothered about is at 1 wilson staff blades drop dead gorgeous if only i could game them 😁 At 2 and my choice of irons for 2020 and now in my bag are the cobra forged tec. Tested these at the side of apex / apex pro, mizuno hot metal pro, ping i500 and taylormade p790 but stand out performers that fit me were cobras

James: I really like your top 5! There was more than surprise in their for me! I never would have guessed that you’d list the T100. Though your collaboration with Mark should have been a clue! Crossfield did something really interesting with his T100s. He actually weakened the lofts to match his old MBs. Effectively reducing the off-set as well. I suspect you’d like them even better in that configuration. There is a good chance these clubs go in my bag for 2020.
