Perfect 4th's are not derived from the major scale then, can I take it ? For example, 2nd perfect fourth in C, goes from the F natural to Bb, not B natural.

That's right we are measuring pure perfect fourth intervals and not "correcting" them to a scale!

This jazz hack, using perfect fourths, sounds really great and also well illustrated... thanks Tom Donald, you sure are an inspiration.

Brilliant lesson. If you’re playing perfect 4ths in the left hand, is this completely random or is there a pattern to the sequence? Also, in the right hand, what should be the minor blues scale key?
@contemporaryschoolofpiano6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jhn1987. Thanks for your question. This pattern will work alongside any normal standard chord progression in the bass and drums, it might seem random but these voicing immediately add a jazz oriented structure to the sound. The right hand in the blues scale (which is very similar to the minor pentantonic scale) works very well. Let us know how you get on with it, and feel free to visit our site www.contemporaryschoolofpiano.com for more masterclasses.

Why didn't I learn this on the first day that I took a piano lesson? I've been lost for a long time and my neighbours would have never known.
