Ive had the Roland KC 200 for a couple weeks now. I think its an excellent keyboard amp. I use it for practice, and will be taking it to rehearsals, and for gigs will use it as a monitor for larger venues. The clarity required for keys is there. I have had problems finding an amp that did not sound hollow when it comes to the lows in the acoustic pianos and electric keyboard sounds. I’m happy with it and the weight is about 30lbs which is a major benefit when going to rehearsals.

BeWater - That's interesting. Yes I have found that many amps and speakers sound hollow, but I'm more concerned about weak mids. Good mid frequency definition seems to be impossible with a 12" speaker. Please do prove me wrong because I need a solution. There are one or two 8" and 10" powered speakers which (supposedly) go down to 50Hz, but usually there is a trade off between lows and mids. I wish that three-way speaker cabinets were more common. The few there are have high price tags.

I wonder why people would use small keyboard amps because they sound horrible.

Apartments. I've got the K450 and it's 7.5 times more powerful than a classic Yamaha self-powered cube from 30-plus years ago (the KS10 which was around ... 6 watts - and could still 'put out' for a small room). Suffice it to say I don't think I'll be dialing up the K450 outside of performance spaces. In fact, the biggest reason - aside from the price-performance ratio - was the ability to take several instruments into the inputs and level them to headphones without getting an interface or other gear. Simple cheap - does the job (compared to - say - the Roland KC200 which costs 500 at double the watts, the K450 comes in at 200 and has more power than I need). Can even throw FX filters (similar to pedals) and onboard EQ into the output to sweeten any sounds coming in.

For home use, especially in an apartment, studio monitors are a better choice than a small keyboard amp. They sound much better, and look better, and tend to be on a desk or shelf or stands rather than right on your downstairs neighbor's ceiling.

I'm choosing the Behringer KXD 15, while the KXD 12 is fine too. I like every amp featured here. I'm also interested in Vox's VX50KB, Peavey's KB5 and Roland's Cubeand Cube Street, Roland's KC220 and their KC 600 and KC 990 models. There are so many choices! Best wishes, everyone!

The only keyboard amps I've ever seen that were extremely powerful but so lightweight; Motion Sound and Barbetta (sadly closed down). Few people were aware of these little monsters

Does the behringer have the ability to eliminate feedback? I didn't catch it the first four times. Lol

uuuunnngghh - the roland mobile cube looks nice (really it does) - but ... separation? Hell - even cheap boom boxes from the 80s had more stereo separation than that.

I just bought a Roland keyboard amp with 4 channels. Should I still use a mixer or no? I usually play with 2 or 3 synths with pedals.
