I have done a lot of research online and a little offline too before buying home theater for the same budget (₹25k - 30k). Considering many aspects, I ended up purchasing JBL 2.1 sound bar for a price of ₹18500/- (actual price as on today on flipkart ₹21999/-) in a special sale on Amazon. I accepted the pros & cons of this JBL 2.1 before purchasing. Pros: 1. Very good base. 2. Cinematic experience. 3. New technology that competes with complicated 5.1 home theaters. Cons: 1. Not all music instruments can be heard clearly while playing songs. 2. 3D surround is not effective. 3. Ultra 4k is not available. You might be thinking why did I cut down my budget. There are two reasons: my family doesn't like heavy sound & I was satisfied with the sound output when I heard JBL 2.1 in a showroom. Even this 2.1 is also making my family go mad. My conclusion: Go to any big audio showrooms & have a test with your own media. In my opinion, there are 3 options: 1. You can go with JBL 3.1 if u have ₹32k+ budget. It has damn heavy base, cinematic home theater experience, Ultra 4k & clear vocals as well. 2. You can go for Yamaha 1840 (not a heavy base as JBL) but u can hear every cling & clang of the musical instruments. 3. Bose Companion 50. It has crystal clear music, voice and sound effects, but mind it, it is just multimedia speakers & not 5.1 channel home theater. Sorry to say this fact, when it comes to other brands such as Phillips, Samsung, LG, etc., they are not at all comparable with Bose, Yamaha or JBL. These 3 are leading brands in India and also in some other countries. Sony competes with JBL but still it has few miles to reach the JBL. My final verdict: Compare my suggested brands with ur selected brands in an audio showroom and take decision. Trust ur ears to differentiate sound quality, but not anyone.

@@Deepakkumar-qq7lo I did not test any Sony sound bars coz they were not available in the showroom. Also, sorry, there is no much comparison information available online for these two models. But I have compared their specifications and I can say that Sony HT-S500RF is lot better because it has 5.1 ch virtual surround sound, Dolby Atmos (supports 7.1 ch), mobile app support and many other small features that are not available in JBL 3.1. In general sony is famous for high Bass. So u will definitely be satisfied for the bass unless u want to have balanced bass. I mean, in Sony bass might be too much Boom Boom. When it comes to surround effect, u can get only virtual surround effect but not complete effect in both models. This means, it creates the surround effect using some audio delay technology that makes us believe audio is really going from left to right and vice versa. My personal choice: If I had to choose between these two, I will be inclined towards JBL 3.1, because I like balanced and optimum base with good cinematic experience, but then I will definitely test Sony in the showroom because I'm about to spend lot of money. I liked the cinematic experience in JBL bar a lot coz it gives good punch wherever required and vocals are also quite good when u turn surround sound ON. I hope u can easily find its price on flipkart/Amazon.
