@Timmayytoo3 жыл бұрын
I've been doing the opposite - getting into Spyderco after buying quite a few CIVIVI, and I love them both. I recently picked up a few CJRBs as well, and while they are a little uneven in their designs, they make quality knives. One thing I really appreciate about CIVIVI is the wide use of hollow-ground blades and the general quality of their edge grinds. Edge grinds are an area where Spyderco has been a little inconsistent for me so far - nothing terrible, but I'd like to see some better symmetry to the grinds... not that that issue is exclusive to Spyderco. Geez, I talk too much...
@arthursoto42853 жыл бұрын
@@Timmayytoo I haven’t noticed asymmetry with the blade grinds but maybe I’ve gotten some on the upper end of the standard of deviation. Para 3 is a superior pocket knife, over the pm2. And I prefer bigger knives, always! However, size has nothing to do with me saying that. It took me 3 years to finally give the para 3 a shot, and surprise! It’s functionally better in almost every way

Curious to hear more. I love my pm2 in maxamet, and do not find it in any need to be shrunk or made smaller or anything. Especially as pm2 handle feels already snug in my large hands; while last time I tried pm3 it felt downright cramped - unless you 'choke' the blade every time...

Para 3 is just a smaller para 2, so if you like bigger knives i don't know why you prefer the para 3

@@buckeyesbengalsreds3125 - In this world, you always get what you pay, so, do not expect much from bottom shelf cheapo drivel. Re. a starter knife?? I really like the Spyderco Shaman blade shape a little better than the traditional Spyderco blade shape. Love the great videos you put out, keep them coming.
@yoryteperman4293 жыл бұрын
To me, Shaman is the most un-Spyderco knife, along with their "ethnic" series - as it does not have the distal taper that is otherwise oh-so-rare in knives!! What most users may not even notice but what makes both PM's lineup (i.e. Military/PM2/PM3) & all of Delica/Endela lineup and even Manix2- is their unique blade geometry that is more sophisticated than almost any other knife out there, as the blade is not a simple flat bar with a simple high-flat grind, but is triangular in plan (from above), i.e. the blade sides are actually not parallel to each other! And then, they did Shaman with a much simpler, cheaper to make, and thicker flat bar of a blade and the grind that did not go all way up - and, lo behold, a plenty of clueless (sorry) peeps fell for it! (kinda like useless recent PM2 Tanto for BHQ, which was pure marketing brilliance...) In my eyes, Shaman is a rare misstep on Spyderco's part. And, I know the perfect next step for all the Shaman lovers out there - the Italian Lionsteel with their drivel overthick blade geometries - almost same as Shaman, but even thicker, and "more"... 'thick'... Cheers!

For Cold Steel, the Talon 2 and Thompson voyager, serrated, shall reign among my favorites of all time. The Spartan is probably my 3rd in terms of Cold Steel. Viper's Boris Manasherov Magà is an all time favorite, and he produced my favorite Bokers, both karambits, the Toro, and Ocelot. Neither for sale in the US, and Toro was discontinued. The Magà is a larger, non karambit version of the Toro, sheer brilliance. The Viper Italo in G10 is also brilliant, and a fat slab of excellent M390.at around $100. Both light, serious EDC pieces. Kershaw's Bareknuckle is my favorite Kershaw, love my 20CV. Otherwise, the D2 CQCs and Knockout are excellent. The Link in 20CV is a champ, and I do love the Bler, mine is CPM-M4 DLC however. The subframe lock, butter action and 3.5" blade, with an excellent, sleek, smart shape of the blade gives the ribbon to the Bareknuckle. Bless SOG for bringing back XHP, and in a major way. Spyderco's dynamic and constant expansion in terms of blade steel options is a spirit I wish we'd see a lot more of with other brands

PM2 for me. The ergonomics on it are unlike any other when it comes to the jimping on top. Good size blade, solid lock, solid grip, tight internals so no loose blade, easy access cleaning, and I still can't get over just how light it feels in the hand for its size. Plus the spyderco hole makes you want to play with the blade all day. Have had it for 6 months now and still cuts through cardboard like butter factory sharp. I had the Osborne awhile back but lost it sadly, which is odd because its previous owner also lost it. Spectacular knife but I just like how the pm2 feels, you couldn't pry that thing out of my hand, locks in nicely.
