Best Layout for Small Van with Toilet, Fixed Bed and MAX Space: DIY Camper Conversion (Mercedes T1)

How to get a fixed, permanent bed, a big kitchen, a toilet room, a big fridge, a big tank and a dinette in a small van of just 3.30m length... This is the layout for our Mercedes 310 T1 and we start building the bed and the garage.

Thanks! It's a 2kw heater which is absolutely enough for this size of a van.

hi u mentioned the compartment regulation in germany if one uses a propane tank what about CNG? it is lighter than air unlike propane...

CNG works with much higher pressure and would not be allowed to use for a cooker in a van in Germany.

It's 190cm long and 160cm wide at night. At daytime it's only 120cm long.

Hi Mike, do you ever consider a drop down bed ?so that there will be a big dinning area under the drop down bed. I am considering this solution and want to check whether you’ve thought about that as well?

Hi Joseph, for me a drop down bed wouldn't be an option, because I wouldn't want to lose the headroom. If you still want to stand, you would need a really high roof which my T1 doesn't have. Apart from that, it's difficult to create a design that looks attractive like a normal ceiling. Two more reasons why I prefer the fixed bed in the back is 1) the big garage area under the bed and 2) the possibility to lounge/relax/sleep on the bed while maybe the second person can still sit/eat/work at the dinette in the front. @@CubeofCars you need to let people know it is actually also about the built process in both title and thumbnail. It looks like it is only about the planning, what many people may find a little boring on its own. (At least that’swhat I thought) Like some before and after picture, definitely something of the finished product maybe with you working on it.

Hi Mike, we just bought a 1991 210D to convert in to a camper, we wel live in it for long periods of time, so we wil also need a toilet and shower setup. Just wait to see the final layout. Can I ask what tyres size you have on the van?

Hi Claudiu, I have 205 R 14 Hankook on the van. We are just working on our toilet room, so the video will be online later this month. We will only build a shower for outdoor though... indoors we don't have enough space left. Have fun with your van conversion project! :)

Cooler Ausbau - viele gute Ideen zum Abgucken. Meiner unmassgeblichen Meinung nach, ist Aufmachung und Naming zu sehr Feuilleton und zu wenig Auffindbarkeit. Im Logo, Titel und den Texten müssen die Suchbegriffe auftauchen. Im Titel geht nicht alles, aber von Feuerwehr, Mercedes Benz, Transporter, T1, T2, Vario muss alles dabei sein. Ich fürchte auch, dass der Sprach Mix Gift für die Auffindbarkeit ist. Ich würde zu eher zu zwei Videos neigen. Eines plain Englisch (Verbal und Text) und eine gedubbte rein deutsche Kopie machen. Schau, wenn ein Deutschsprachler in Deutschland eine Google Suche startet, wird ihm primär nur Deutschsprachiges angezeigt - du musst über advanced search gehen, wenn ein französisches Ergebnis auftauchen soll

Hallo Gernot, danke für die Anregungen! Mein Kanal ist halt irgendwann mal englichsprachig gestartet, weil ich viel internationale Freunde habe. Insofern gibt es eigentlich keinen Sprach-Mix, sondern die Videos sind einfach englich. Zusätzliche deutsche Videos würden nur bei einem extra Kanal funktionieren, wo ich bei null Abonnenten anfangen müßte. Der Aufwand wäre mir viel zu viel, da das ja alles kein Geschäft ist, sondern nur Spaß. Die Titel und Beschreibungen sind aber in beiden Sprachen verfügbar und damit müßte die deutsche KZbin-Suche schon funktionieren. Bei dir müßte Titel und Beschreibung in deutsch angezeigt werden, oder? VG, Mike
