On your recommendation I purchased these on cyber Monday "GVM 800D-RGB LED Studio 3-Video Light Kit" Truly a great set up at a phenomenal price! Work extremely well for my photography & videography shoots being portable. One of the best light setups I own for key lighting & ambient rear flood lightning. Thanks Sean for the excellent recommendation 🤟

I have this kit and use these lights quite often. I feel like the light quality can be a bit harsh even with the diffuser panel, so I use some baking parchment paper as another diffuser layer and attach it to the barn doors with some inexpensive binder clips I picked up from the dollar store. Works like a charm and the light looks nice and soft!

J Escalona yes there is! However the diffuser on the light still give a harsh light instead of something soft. Dimming the light will just bring the brightness down. Difference between texture vs. intensity.

If you already have the Neewer 480 led version of these lights (I do and it’s been rock solid for 6 months!) then you might want to know that Neewer has add-on barn doors available for $23. Like your review says, barn doors are indispensable for fine-tuning your set, and that’s been the only thing missing for me to make this the perfect KZbin production light. Thanks for spreading the word about how important lighting is, and for giving recommendations on a cost-effective solution. Well done!

First time here and I had to subscribe. Here's why: Too often while researching some bit of gear, I have to sit though what appears to be a Netflix trailer just to get to the info. Creators are spending a lot of the video's run time making the thing look cinematic, but at the expense of delivering less content. You just showed that you can deliver all of the information I need in a nice looking video while being very professional. I hope this is how you do all your videos.

I just got the lights, and I agree that you have to move the bracket to the other pair of holes if you want to tilt down because of the barn door issue. Here's a tip: when you swap to the other pair of holes, you should also flip the bracket so you're securing the old right side of the bracket to the old left side of the light, and vice versa. If you don't do that, then when you go to put it back in the bag, the nut that secures the bracket to the light stand will not fit in the foam insert. It's easy enough to cut away the extra bit of foam with a pair of unremarkable scissors. That's what I did for one bag, and then I realized I could flip it, so that's what I did for the other bag. Also, when you first open up the bag, you'll find that the power supply and cables are in their own plastic bags. I wouldn't recommend throwing those plastic bags away. They make it a _lot_ easier to get everything to fit back in the box when you pack up. Edit: I take back my own advice. Switching the brackets left and right means that the light is upside down when in use. To me, that's more annoying that just cutting the foam. Plus, when it's upside down, I feel like any attached batteries aren't secured by the first-string defenses against gravity. So yeah, standard issue scissors and you're all set.

Hello Sean, Can I use one of this Bi-color 660 LED lights as my KEY light? Sean you are simply the best for tech and tool reviews. You do an awesome job. Thank you.

I bought these and decided to return them the same day I got them just because I feel nauseas from the LED lighting. I never knew that was a real thing till now (did some google searches on it). So, I’m going to try the cheap soft box brand you recommended in your budget lighting video.

Do they give off enough light for a larger space? Like doing a workout video as opposed to just sitting directly in front of the camera?

Awesome video! I’m about to get the set with the soft boxes. For those of you who have these lights, have they held up well?

I just got the Neewer Advanced 2.4G 660 LED Video Lights. Basically the same as these, except they come with the LED screen on the back and a remote where you can slave them together...and they're just a little nicer overall.

Outstanding video! Any chance of doing a comparison between a softbox kit and the Neewer 660 LED kit? Keep up the great work!! I have been using cheap lights from home depot/lowes. Need to up the lighting just not sure which way to go.

How important do you think consider the softboxes you can purchase seperately from the lights (or bundled together in a package)? Do they make the Newer lights significantly better than if you don't have them?

Right now I'm using the Neewer 480s. I have three of these. No barn doors or softbox attachments though. However, I could use some guidance on what would make a good softbox for lighting a green screen separately from my subject. (I only just learned about this in the last couple of days)

I have been watching your videos which I find really enjoyable, they are easy to follow and very informative. I am looking to start creating videos for my martial arts school and wanted to know your opinion on these lights when shooting at a distance videoing two people, whole body. The videos will consist of close up description then a physical demonstration, kicks, punches, throws etc. I already have a couple of soft boxes but the video just doesn’t seem bright enough. Would you suggest something for us that will help please? Thank you 🙏
