Essential for anyone who travels. Being able to access essentials at toll booths, customs, ferry entry etc etc saves a lot of faff. I'm still using a Hein Geriche one I've had for about 20yrs. Magnetic. And a clear map pocket on top, which i still use occasionally. Separate side pockets for quickly opening change for tolls without having to ooen the whole bag. Handle and shoulder strap. Great kit. Ride safe 👍

Also useful when you’re swapping between bikes like I often do👍

Useful and informative, another solution is to put a tank rack beneath, protects your paint and won’t look out of place on a modern classic.

True. Good tip👍😊

Back in the 50's-60's we used to refer to the Triumph tank rack as the 'ball-tearer.' ☹

I'm amazed at how expensive they are, particularly the SW Motech. It's made like a €10 handbag. 🤔
@RocketMan_Moto11 ай бұрын
Quality is better than that

Yeah, SW motech luggage is nice, but often much more expensive than the competition

SW Motech makes a clip on saddle bag option for the Bonneville range. They have a small bag and large bag that clips right onto the bracket that you affix to the bike. I have the small bag on just the right side, and feel it's a much better option than any magnetic tank bag. It looks much better than a bulky bag ruining the lines of that beautiful tank, and you never have to worry about it scratching your paint, or coming off while riding. It's easily removable, with just a single spring loaded button. Clipping it on is also quick and easy. The small bag is 9 liters, meaning you can make quick trips to the store to pick up small items (like takeout food). The large bag is 14 liters, I believe, and clips right onto the same bracket, giving you options for overnight trips, especially if you have one on either side. Yes, a saddle bag does require you to get off the bike to access the contents, but the piece of mind is worth it in my opinion. I love this bag, and highly recommend it.

As I say in the video, clip-on solutions are usually preferable, but if you’re changing bikes often, as I do, magnetic bags do have their place. Anyway, thanks for your input😊👍

Really well explained, the leather bag is lovely, it would not suit my bikes but lovely just the same, I have a small SW Motech magnetic tank ring version on my T7 WR, the only thing I think they got wrong was the direction of the zip on the lid pocket, I would like to store my phone in the pocket with a charger cable coming out, but as the zip ends at the top not the bottom, 1st world problems !!
@RocketMan_Moto11 ай бұрын
Lol, I’m bad for 1st world problems, too. At least when it comes to my bikes🤦♂️😂

When you slapped that magnetic bag on yr speed twin tank momentary heart failure!

I used to have magnetic tank bag (cheap one from Louis) that picked up a paper clip somewhere, seriously scratched the tank on my (then) beloved TDM 850...Who knows how long it was there...After that I stopped liking its practicality. Only tank racks for me on latter bikes, though I like the classic look of this TripMachine bag...just that I dont have a matching bike for such a thing. Yet :)))

I get that. You do have to be very careful. As I said, I wipe mine down before every ride. Thanks for your input👍😊

I'd go for the latter, although the flimsy zips aren't confidence inspiring. I have always used Baglux products. Very useful review, RM. Nick

Btw…I see Freddie on tour in Yorks hills on a TA had to do an about turn and look for a fuel station due to the fuel light and no range indicator…that grip angle screen data not too useful it seems 😆

Another thorough and useful vid RM ✔️ do you by any chance have a discount code for SW Motech? I’m looking to get a fuel cap ring and tank bag for my Kawasaki.

No, sorry. They wanted to work with me last year, but their conditions were unacceptable😉
@UFGgamings11 ай бұрын
I really can't recommend magnetic tank bags. I used one for many years, but you would absolutely need Paint Protection Film. The magnets attract small metal flakes over time, especially when you store the bag in an old garage or on the ground. Over time these tiny metal flakes will ruin your bikes' paint. Stick to the tank ring whenever possible.

That’s kind of what I said. They’re useful when you swap bikes a lot, as I do, however😊👍

After many long EU tours constantly filling I've done away with tank bags they're an annoyance, but that's just me
@RocketMan_Moto11 ай бұрын
I would never claim tank bags are for touring. I use them exclusively for day trips👍
