Given you guys were not fans of past Triumphs,' best Triumph to date' doesn't say much. Is it still comparable to the Novablast 3 like Thomas said initially? Is it one of the best max cushion shoes? Can you notice the 10mm drop? Something that has some energy return with decent bounce is what I'm looking for. I wish NB wouldn't make the shoes so wide, what's the point of having wide versions of the same shoe if the normal is already wide?!

Just broke in my Triumph 20s on a 10 mile run. I’ve never tried the Novablast 3 but had the 2, and the Triumph 20 feels like the 2 with a better lockdown and more true-to-size fit (Novablast 2 felt a little long). I don’t know what Saucony did with PWRRUN+ but it honestly felt like I had an Endorphin Speed 2 but without a plate (more flex) and thicker upper. Though no Speedroll, it kept me on my toes, and I kinda feel like this should’ve been the Shift. Makes me wonder how the Shift 3 feels in comparison. I’ve had the Triumph 18 before, and that thing was heavy and flat feeling, the 20 feels like a different shoe.

I originally agreed with Thomas on the look of the Glideride 3 but then I ran in it and it became one of the most beautiful shoe I've ever seen.

The Prime X I found improved my form, by making me be very aware of the stability issues. I’m a few hundred miles into them now and absolutely love them. I also just bought the Strungs which arrived today, but I made the mistake of ordering a 1/2 size bigger due to the Prime X being quite ‘snug’ 🙄 Great content guys, I’m a 200lb runner doing 40km a week and couldn’t be without Max Cush trainers 😁

Ooh! The Prime-X Strung keeps your foot on top of the shoe?! NICE! I had to return the original because the gait adjustment to keep my foot on top caused hip pain in less than 2 miles. Otherwise, I liked the feel. It could use a 1-2cm wider outsole heel, and a bit of a cradle of midsole over the sides of the upper to make it a perfect max cush trainer, though.

I tried the NB MV4 and the Hoka bondi 8, really have enjoyed the bondi 8. I use wide, and the wide Hoka bondi 8 is a pleasure to use at jogging and walking.

I got the ON Cloudmonster, Saucony Triumph 20 and More v4. I think the Altra Via Olympus should be on here too. Thanks for all the advice you give! I got a steal on the ON Cloudmonster and Triumph 20 from the Clearance section of Road Runner Warehouse in San Diego-2 for $130 for their online return on the side of their main store. It felt pretty new to me and there was hardly any wear on the shoes.

Out of these, I have the Prime X Strung, GlideRide 3, and SC Trainer. They are all very different and I also have the Incredible Run 2, Clifton 8, and 1080v2 that could also be put in this category. I tried the Cloudmonster and tried to like it but I couldn't bond with it at all. On shoes just don't do it for me. For me, the Prime X Strung is max cushioned but isn't an easy/recovery kind of shoe at all. It's really best suited for long distance tempo running or even racing. The ride is amazing and pure excitement. Yes, a little heavy and bulky for racing with the stack height and 8.3 ounces for my size 8, but it compels you to pick up the pace and drives you forward with extended strides. For me, it's the 'Shoe of the Year', even more so than the Novablast 3, Endorphin Speed 3, and Deviate Nitro 2 that I also enjoy very much for daily training. The GlideRide 3 is smooth - just lock in a pace and cruise for 10+ miles and it just feels good. It's not exciting but is comfortable and provides the reliable miles. The SC Trainer, I need more time with as I'm giving it another try after a failed first try. It was more of a sizing issue with the first try but I got the size dialed in and will start taking it on long easy runs. For easy/recovery, I love the Invincible Run 2. It felt a little too squishy at first but the energy return is addicting and it keeps you going. The Clifton 8 and 1080v12 are good but kind of boring and I think I'm going to use them more for walking and casual use. I tried the More v4 but it was just too big, bulky, and heavy as soon as I tried it on and returned it the next day.

Directly bought the Asics Glideride 3 after this. I like the shape. Healthy for the toes and easy to start using it as a normal shoe after you reach 500-750 kilometers. At the moment they are on offer on Asics outlet for 53-75 Euro depending on the color you choose. Blue being the cheapest, and chemical yellow or something like that, at 75 Euro. A true steal. Now what to pair it with?

Could you compare endorphin shift 3 and adistar cs? Both of them are on firm side. And I was wondering if the only difference between by prime x og and strung is the upper? Because I also use max cushion shoes for walking and prime x og is very unstable when I am walking or running in a slow pace.

I was not a fan of the Glideride 3. Tried it on a treadmill and returned it back to Asics. The rocker is very extreme and shoe is not bendable. Feels strange on foot when walking because of the extreme rocker and also the cushion around the ball of the foot is very noticeable when walking (Jimmys training shoes that Kramer worse on Seinfeld type feel). I find it strange that no one mentions this in their reviews, it's only positives. Just goes to show that in the end you have to try a shoe yourself. Thomas is right that it doesn't feel like a running shoe. Prime X Strung is almost double the price of any other shoe , 275Euro, what is Adidas smoking??

High stack does not automatically = high cushion. The Bondi and Shift might be cushy for heavy people, though.

Got the NB More 4. It's good but somewhat heavier than expect. Can feel it on longer runs. You didn't mention the Novablast 3. Thinking of getting that as a daily trainer/cushion shoe. How does that compare to the More 4?

We have that in our daily trainer category. While very cush, I wouldn’t put it in the max cushion category. It is a fantastic shoe. Most likely some of our team will pick the NOVABLAST v3 for shoe of the year.

for max cushion shoes, i feel like less is more. Just give me the cushion and no other frills. Build it to last a long time, as the miles are slower, no carbon, etc. should help contribute to robustness.

I bought the Glideride 3's a couple weeks ago and absolutely love them. The upper feels great and the underfoot feel is soft and responsive. I have a narrow foot with high arches. If you have a wider foot I'd go with the Shift as it seems to me the Saucony added more volume in the newer shoes.

Did you read their heading at the top of comments saying they didn’t have the Triumph 20 yet at the time of filming this? They really like it-go back and read it. They answered another comment that they love the NovaBlast 3 enough to possible name it shoe of the year but it’s not officially a max cushion shoe even though it functions well as one (I tried it on in an Asics store and plan to order it for such use). They didn’t get the Invincible2 bc they didn’t evidently like v1. That's in another reply to a commenter wondering the same.

Specifically, for me, her "wide-footed" frankness just enormously boosts the usefulness of what I hear from this channel. I am stuck with flat-footed (forefoot) width, which is considerably worse than W.F. Jarrett. Her comment about the Bondi upper running narrow, despite the hugely wide forefoot "base", is a perfect example of getting my crucial information very quickly. Other channels usually confirm these facts, but sometimes not as quickly, and frankly. If things were left to narrow-footed marathoners only, they eventually gush effusively about narrow shoes which I have zero prayer of ever wearing. Fairly pointless, in my case. So "NB More" fits my, unfortunately limited, alley.

Many great shoes from Asics this year and I would replace the GlideRide 3 in your list with the Gel-Nimbus 24, or would remove the Bondi instead to put the Nimbus. What I loved about the Gel-Nimbus 24 is that it is extremely bouncy ,comfortable and agile and with only almost half of the middlesole stack of a Bondi or the NB More v4.
