OK, that's the 355. Is the 380 worth the extra Benji?
@RecklessWrenchGarage Жыл бұрын
That would be totally up to the buyer to decide. The difference between the two is mostly the base. The 380 has a heavier base that is designed a bit different. It adds the option to run a 15” blade, the ability to cut certain materials up to 1” larger than the 355, the 45 degree lock pin, a chip tray rather than deflector and it uses oilite bushes. If those things are worth the added cost to you, go for it. If that doesn’t sound tempting enough, don’t worry because the 355 will run neck and neck with the 380 all day cutting equal materials.

@@RecklessWrenchGarage Appreciate the info also! Any chance you know how the EVOSAW380 compares?
@RecklessWrenchGarage5 ай бұрын
Between the two of us, we have both models (380 and 355). As mentioned, the made difference is the base and the size of the blade you can run. The cut quality and performance is so similar, it would be difficult to tell them apart using the same size blade.

Just got this saw, used Youre Code. Can’t wait to add it to my garage. Been getting by with a harbor freight miter saw with an abrasive wheel. Figured better that than my dewalt Miter saw.

This saw is absolutely worth it. The biggest deal is straight cuts. If you pay yourself minimum wage to straighten out wandering cuts from an abrasive saw, you will have the purchase price saved up in no time. If you already have an abrasive saw keep it for high carbon cuts. I think I just shelled out my blade on a piece of scrap pipe that was probably from an oilfield application with a higher than average carbon content. It is still cutting, just a little slower.

I just got this in and set up. I haven't used it just yet. I was curious about the aluminum blade because they're not available right now. Will the mild steel blade work? I picked up the stainless blade for the exhaust I'm building

Hey man I need to cut two things I need to cut wood for a shed project and I also need to cut a trailer coupler witch is 1/4 thick I'd like to buy a saw that can handle wood and thick hard metal my budget is a big deal so I'd like to know what saw should I buy to cut metal and 2x4s ? I don't mind buying multiple blades and 1 saw I want a saw that will cut the metal perfectly.

Have you ever wanted a 12" saw? Just curious if you would use one or not - like, if that's all you had, what would be your concern that you wouldn't be able to cut?

Abrasive saws are ok if u take your time , if not the heat hardens the steel making it difficult to cut

Anyone here that has used both this saw and the Steelmax? We have a Steelmax 14" saws. I've had to replace the clamping assembly a couple times. It strips out. Wondering if the Evolution's set up is better?
@lesschattermoresplatter5769 Жыл бұрын
I’ve looked into buying one of these and it seems most user complaints are, lack of a true angle after the cut and screw threads stripping out on the vise. Has these issues been fixed or is Evolution still selling them knowing about the problems. I noticed you didn’t check your cuts with a square.
@RecklessWrenchGarage Жыл бұрын
I can tell you I have never stripped out any hardware on the 3 evolution saws that I own. I also have checked them with a square and they are true. Check a cut on an abrasive saw with a square and let me know how those are

@@RecklessWrenchGarage I have a dewalt chopsaw and I can tell you for a fact that it will NOT produce a square cut. I’m just going off of what I’ve seen right here on KZbin. Some of the vice screws were made from regular threads and some used acme threads.
@frankhouck4446 Жыл бұрын
The way I understand it is that the previous model EVOSAW380 had the “V” thread issue. The new series has 2 replacements both with ACME threads: The S380CPS is the direct replacement for the EVOSAW380 and added the ACME threads, better catch basin, better swivel clamp with with pin holds for 15, 30 and 45 degree cuts. This one, the s355cpsl still has the ACME thread upgrade, but removed the chip basin, does not have upgraded clamp hold and used a cheaper/thinner steel base instead of heavy cast iron.

So, can I use the 355 to cut carbon steel hollow bar 1518- 40mm x 28mm. Or should iI go with the 380 model ?? Thanks.
@RecklessWrenchGarage Жыл бұрын
Both saws will handle that material with ease. Using the steel cutting blade, it will slice through that nicely. Choosing the best blade option would be the key to cutting through different types of material.

How long does the blade last
@RecklessWrenchGarage2 жыл бұрын
It varies depending on use, so time is relative, but our first blade has 3 years of use on it. Cage work for two vehicles, sliders for 3, suspension for 3, and a couple random side projects.
