Bedrock PvP is actually quite similar to pre-1.8 java pc, with the noticeable difference that shields *do* replace fencing battle sword blocking. Interestingly enough, timing your attacks rather than spamming is actually a part of it, as I discovered last week while playing a PvP minigame. Overall, as the mean states, it is kind for a hybrid. 1v1 resembles modern java, but add more than 1 player on either side and it is much more like 1.8 or earlier, as shields become almost worthless and spam clicking achieves a similar success to sweeping swords in java.
