MKLeo learned the first time during Smash 4 to not play his best characters while the games being actively patched. I believe the story goes that this was at a Japanese Smash 4 tournament M2K and MKLeo were both attending. Jason warned Leo not to go Meta Knight (Sakurai had a reputation to egregiously nerf characters he personally sees winning at tournaments). Lowe and behold, MK's ladder combo was nerfed the following patch.

In Smash 4, Bowser and Charizard were my best characters, now are K Rool, Byleth and Piranha in Ultimate.

It’s the mkleo influence on the community doesn’t matter who he plays the community thinks they are too good. Iv been playing byleth as a co-main since they released and since mkleo has been getting good results with the character everyone calls them busted.

@@senpaifear6293 Fun Fact: Nintendo wanted Monster Hunter in Smash, but they couldn't get the rights for Hunter, even thou they did get the Monster as a boss. So Byleth was put in to fill in the void.

@Joshua Suh That's because the dev's had no issue with the monster in Cross overs but they didn't want the hunter to fight anything that isn't a monster. No Marvel vs Capcom Infinite does not count, because that was Capcom's decision, not the MH dev's. Sakurai of course resect their wishes, and only put in the Hunter as Mii costume. It's also been confirmed that Goichi Suda and id Software wanted Doom guy and Travis in Smash, but ended up as mii costumes, not sure why on that one.

@Joshua Suh The problem with Third party characters is that unlike Nintendo characters, Sakurai is not allowed to take creative liberties with characters. If Sakurai can't find a way to make Monter Hunter a one to one translation, then the character will be reduce to mii Costume. For Example Ridley had to be a smaller than his usual size. Third Party characters can't have this luxury.

@@desiderioherebia1053 ike is really good. he never plays like ryu or ken, characters that require brains. Anyone can be good with ike, ike does massive damage with a long sword. He never play a low tiered character and win a tournament.
