I agree, 100%. In fact, since I carry so many cables around with me, I will take hi viz duct tape or bright rubber bands and wrap the cables in either of those two so I can see the cables without having to hold the opened bag right next to a light to see better on the inside. It saves so much time and frustration.

For me, the real advantage of the Kriega is the strap arrangement. On most back packs the straps cross my shoulder right at the rotator cuff of my arm. This tends to cut off circulation to my arms and hands causing me discomfort. The Kriega moves the straps inboard so the pressure is distributed closer to the center of your chest. This makes a big difference for me.

+FortNine You should order a boblbee megalopolus back and do a review. It a CE rated hard shell back pack. Trust me when I say it works. I went down 8 months ago with 1 on. It saved my back Andy lap top. They ran 1 over with a H2 and all it did was tear the corner of the shell a little.

The Icon Urban is an incredible tank bag, the shoulder straps are just for convenience. The magnets held it to the tank of my SV650 no problem, even stuffed with 3 college textbooks, 2 binders, a notebook, ipad, and a set of gym clothes, running shoes, and small towel. If you pack smart, you could do a short tour with it as your only luggage and a tent and sleeping bag tied on the back seat.

I use a Chrome Motor Citizen messenger bag. They're designed for motorcycle users though a bit on the heavy side. I really like mine. It's big and easy to get in and out of. The water proofing has also come in handy quite a few times and I've only had it for a couple of months. Worth a look.

I bought an Ogio Mach 3 (plain black) and absolutely love it. I looped my bike and it took the hit like a champ. Crushed the hard cover a bit and scratched it up pretty bad but it popped back into place and I still use it. I bought another Mach 3 (the one made for KTM with black, white and orange) and will be buying the new Mach 3 bag made for KTM (all black). I've rode through pouring rain and never had anything inside get wet even though it isn't even rated as water resistant.

I have owned an Ogio for a couple years now. The model I have doesn't include the fanny pack or the inner webbing, but is otherwise the exact same. I really like it for carrying my laptop like you mentioned. It has been a great pack and very durable so far. I have a rather large Lenovo laptop but despite that it still fits well and can fit all my accessories. It also is very comfortable to ride with unlike previous packs I have had. Great reviews though, I am kinda interested now in that icon one for the tank bag aspect.

Got myself the Ogio Mach 3. Although it's not waterproof, the top she'll definitely is. I just sprayed the under textile part with boot protector. I've ridden in torrential rain and most of the water just beads off. The top of the inside was damp but none of my stuff was wet. I actually spray all my gear with this stuff. Helps bead off water and also protects my gear colour from fading.

I just use a $30 Daypack similar to the Klim... been using it for a few years now and it's great, no issues with it. Sticks to me like glue any drag caused by it isn't noticeable. I've lowsided, due to user error(I was a novice rider then) and the only damage to the pack was to the quick release buckles on the straps, I did not feel like it would cause any issues with survive-ability as it helped keep me on my gears integrated armoring and, also slid up enough to help pad and support my head/helmet during the initial fall and during the slide. If I were to upgrade I'd go with the Klim or the torrent, the Ogio's hardshell design(all hardshell's actually) scare me as I feel it would cause injury to the neck in the event of a crash and the icon just looks poorly made and I dislike how small it looks.
@TheFunnyCamGuy
@TheFunnyCamGuy 8 жыл бұрын
Actually hardshells are good for crashes because it allows you to slide on your back if you are ever in a crash and not get caught on the ground and cause you to start rolling which can result in more injuries.

+FortNine Just to be clear on my comment above. That was not meant to come across negative but as a complement. Too many "reviews" on here, at least the ones that are well put together, read more like an advertisement than an honest review. Kriega is pretty spendy but well worth the money. I got one for Christmas and one mis-labled on ebay for cheap. Would love to see a review on motorcycle cell phone holders. Like the xgrip by ram vs techmount vs Rokform vs techgripper preferably for sportbikes that don't have room on handlebars.

Kriega > all others I've tried and cannot imagine how they can not be on this list. I have the Ogio Mach 5 and a Kriega R25 amongst a few others, and I can't even ride 30 minutes with the Ogio with a laptop in it before my arms and back hurt. They way it loads weight onto your shoulders is seriously the worst, whereas I can easily put 10kg in my Kriega R25 and ride all day. Even fully loaded, if it's adjusted properly there is no weight on your shoulders - you can fit a finger between your shoulder and the strap. The other manufacturers have a long way to go before they catch up to Kriega's quadlock system... I will admit the Ogio has a pretty decent capacity once it has been expanded but I would never want to carry a load that large longer than down the road with those horrible shoulder straps, also my phone doesn't fit in the top phone pocket... I do really like the visor pouch though and I like how it sits at the top of the bag so anything heavy is less likely to damage it, again; not that I want to carry anything heaving in this stupidly uncomfortable bag! The Kriega still wins on capacity though due to the ability to strap a US5 or US10 drypack to the front of the bag.

Does the Icon bagpack when used as a tank bag stay up with a laptop in it? Even with strong magnets, the effect of wind will definitely be greater than the magnetic force as far as I can tell. A bulky 15 inch laptop and other stuff will weight at least 6-8 pounds.
@FortNine
@FortNine 8 жыл бұрын
I know someone who rides with a 15" laptop in his Icon Urban, and he doesn't have any problems. Although he is on a sport bike, so the bag is somewhat shielded by the fairing. Personally, I wouldn't worry so long as the force of the bag's weight is perpendicular to the surface of the gas tank. I.e. if the bag is mounted on an incline (like in this video) you might have troubles. ~RyanF9

You forgot Alpinestars. I have an older version of the Tech Aero I think. It was almost $200. I bought it for the helmet bag. It was kind of a busy bag and I removed a bunch of the front strap pouches originally. I just put the Velcro map pouch back on. The phone pouch is laughable bcuz Apple's phone was new when I got it. Cue intense laughing... Still a great bag and has a rain coat to boot. I will prob keep it until it gives up the ghost. I'm not ready for saddle bags but a tank bag or passenger seat bag might hit the spot. Suzuki used to sell a passenger seat bag for the Hayabusa. It was discontinued like 6yrs ago. The Trooper is great. I've actually been testing one for our 2017 backpack video. My only major complaint is that the bag is pretty damn heavy, even when it's empty. If you're planning to fill it with a lot of stuff anyway, that's not such a big deal. But if you only want to carry a few things around you could get away with a lighter bag. Cheers! ~RyanF9

I've currently just been using a normal school backpack without any kind of chest clip and I found that my right shoulder gets really tense and sore. I dont carry a ton day to day but as I start doing more rides and longer rides I've begun carrying more along with and cramming it all in a typical school bag is annoying. keep up the great work. thanks for the reply.

I got myself the Ogio Mach (add any number here) Dainese Edition and even the pocket side is complete fluo red. (Which is awesome as many stated already, because you can find your stuff more easy) The good thing is that it already comes with a rain cover 👍. Most of the time the dainese version costs more but I managed to get it for a lot less then even the normal version. Downside: it does not come with the visor pouch and the divider inside neither does it have the fanny pack (the Last I didn’t care for anyway) I was riding with it and came into a heavy rainstorm and with no options to make a stop and throw the cover over, I just went for it in the hope that it would at least withstand some of the rain. In the backpack were my rather new iPad and some papers, so when I arrived home I was even more shocked to see that I forgot to close the zipper and had just thrown it on loosely. On a side note: I was so soaked that my boots were filled about 15cm with water even tho I had tucked them under my Kevlar cargos (just for a quick reference as to how heavy the rain was) Now for the big surprise: Except for a little 1-2cm area on one of the papers the inside of the backpack was basically dry. Even my back was dry because it was sitting so snug against it. The only slightly wet area inside were behind the ogio sign as the bolts are not sealed which led to a few drops getting in. Maybe this helps some people with their decision making. Me for my part am totally happy with my choice of buying this backpack 🎒

What up man, I'm new to all this motorcycle stuff. Was curious to know if you can do a list of safety instructions/rules on how to pack a lot of stuff into your backpack, and what you would do if someone like me was going to carry a lot of stuff with them. I would usually go to work and carry my spare clothing and mma/muaythai gear, and go to the gym after work as it would be easier. I usually carry with me my big soccer or swim bag, but was curious to know if big bags like that existed in the motorcycle world. Peace!FYI I usually carry my boxing gloves + gear, Muay Thai shin guards, and Eskrima sticks for stick fighting classes etc.

@ryanhayn Why are you being a nitpicking smartass? Buy the backpacks on your own and review them yourself then. Prob solved.

Thanks! It's a Lowepro bag, but quite an old one. We think the modern equivalent would be something like this: store.lowepro.com/ca/shoulder-bags/edit-140-ca ~RyanF9

Hi there! Looking for those PDX bib but can't find them anywhere :( Any tips? XL is out of stock with canadian motorcycle. XL option is stil available tho, hope you guys will receive more before making me purchase those PDF 2 :( Love those video, really helpful. Cheers!

Hey! Looks like the PDX bibs are disappearing fast, especially in the larger sizes. We still have some of the jackets available (www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/icon-pdx-hi-visibility-jacket.html). With the bibs, you might have better luck finding a hi-visibility option (www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/icon-pdx-hi-visibility-bib.html). We don't have many left, but some of the other distributors in Canada and the states might have a few in larger sizes. Good hunting. ~RyanF9

Ich verwende einen Turnbeutel. Selbst bei Agility-Tracks oder 300km/h spüre ich nicht, dass er dabei ist. Kostet wenig und super praktisch. ;D

The 5.11 tactical back pack www.511tactical.com/all-hazards-nitro.html works best for me. It has tons of internal and external storage. It is also very rugged and it is well balanced as far as distribution of weight when wearing.... and you hardly even notice you're wearing it even when its full.
