Bought one this year. Quite happy with it. Light, compact and durable. Work great with my MSR single burner. And when you mentioned not for open flames I assume you meant campfire and such lol.

You are correct. All camping burners should be fine. We were thinking camp fire and sort of misspoke and said open flames.

well the flame from burner should not touch the silicone, but also excessive heat from too strong burner can melt it. This is basically to do soups and pasta etc... so cooking with liquid base.

Awesome! Do you think a 5" Firebox stick fire would be contained enough for these pots?

So I just made up a 5x5 template and put it on the bottom of all the x-series pots. The only one that covered it completely was the X-Pot Kettle 2L, while all the others leave the corners exposed giving the potential for the flame to reach around. IF you keep the fire small it may work out fine. I will make a post on instagram with pictures for reference if you would like to see. Thanks for the great question!

@@MotoCampNerd The 5x5 template just reminded me that I have the SS drop-in plate with a hole just large enough to heat a metal cup or water bottle, for the top of the Firebox. That should keep the flame contained to just that hole. Thanks Ben!

That was our mistake. We will probably have to redo this video to specify when we say open flame we mean a big ol' campfire flame! You can use any flame source that stays under the aluminum bottom and does not come up around the sides, that would damage the silicone. Sorry about the confusion. Have a good weekend! Ride safe!

Has the plastic lid been improved? It has a reputation for getting lots of stress cracks.

We have not heard anything recently about the lids being an issue since we became a dealer last November. I've read about issues in the past but haven't seen anything recently.

Yeah they are! They finally came out with their cool grip style and then Sea to Summit completely revamped the entire line this year so all those X-Series are gone.

@erkful Good to know, thanks for the feedback. I still use my old x series cool grip and haven't used the new stuff yet. I thought it didn't look like a good idea for hot drinks. The frontier is plastic but probably no better than the x series with heat
