It may not match with the movie plot but I want to point out something - 9- this number is related with feminine in India , navratri, 9 girl child for kanya puja, this 9 days again gets divided into sattvik- Saraswati, rajasik- lakshmi and tamasic- kali The down triangle is used as feminine also and upper triangle as masculine I also want to reflect the part where except India and Greece no other country can even think that God can also come in woman's form, if woman possess some power they used to burn them considering them witch In this movie girls and women were the main target too That satanic orb which longlegs used to put in the doll used to manipulate the mind of the male member of the family who then used to kill his own wife and daughter....here masculine maynot consider as man only,maybe it's trying to say it's easier for satan to control the mind of the one who is in power or hungry towards power and then use it to strike on the weak one or let's say a mind who is not power hungry but are caring and nurturing Like the same orb which could manipulate the man's mind to kill his wife and daughter is also the same one which provides intuitive power to those girls who if alive then use it to save others like Lee Am not talking about Lee's mother though, she participated in killing lot of other girls to save her own daughter, but at first her mind could not be manipulated by that satanic orb, longlegs had to threat her like any normal guy but not with any black magic or satanic orb like he used to do for fathers of the family Somewhere in this movie I think it's talking about how feminine use this power and how masculine does How woman gets sacrificed for others selfish nature or how weak ones get targeted when some unknown fear, hatred comes in mind I think this 14 th of the month has to do something with lunar cycle, 1st quarter of the moon, half way between the new moon and full moon, where the left side of the moon is dark (again even in our body left side of our body where our heart resides, resides Shakti the feminine, nurturing in nature .so the left side is also considered as feminine and right side as masculine) and right side of the moon reflects (masculine) a perfect balance of masculine and feminine but after that starting from the 14th the left part of the moon gets light and reflect and right part gradually gets darker, maybe there is some concept here to choose this 14th day of the month

I will give the most simplest theory, see when ruth destroyed lee's doll her memories came back and all the childhood stories her mom told her she gets to remember it all so when lee was about to shoot the ruby's doll lee think for a min if she want to give ruby a good future she must not destroy the metal of the ruby's doll because if lee does that ruby's memory of her father and mother getting killed will haunt her for life.. that's the most simplest theory and also carrie Ann killed herself so the triangle is completed end of the story

Lee killed her mom, Lee won't get influenced by devil or even became long legs but she killed her mom(who might have took birth on 14, or whatever date it was). And the daughter needs not to be killed by her father as one daughter (who was in mental asylum) committed suicide, so... Yeah the reaver triangle is already completed and she must have stopped to stare at doll because she might have realised it? Maybe? And maybe Lee and Ruby both are destined to be killed in following re birth, I mean that's the only way you will get a sequel or else the devil is born alredy which could be potential sequal too but I don't think it would be as intresting to be against supernatural.
