This may be the first time that I have ever heard someone refer to a dentist as a convenience. Ha! Northlake looks like a wonderful place and I am excited to see what kind of growth happens there! But one that thing always is a let-down with new construction is that the homes are rarely ranch style. I am SO grateful to have found the perfect home in SW Arlington through Dana Pollard Group that is a ranch style. I'm a disabled vet with messed up knees and a bad back from one too many jumps and getting up and down stairs can be brutal. However, special time and attention was placed on finding just the right home for us so we didn't have to sacrifice space, amenities, or security to get everything that we could have hoped for and more. 10/10 recommend Dana Pollard Group.

Maybe you can help me Dana. It will be a few years before I can move but I am considering trying to find a small place to live out my golden years in peace. I will be looking for 5-20 acres with a small house or even a single wide where I can have animals, hunt (and maybe even fish) or target practice on my own land without the threat of encroachment by cities/suburbs or others trying to tell me what to do on my own land. I am targeting Nacogdoches, Cherokee, or Rusk counties. Naturally zoning of the land and surrounding areas is a critical factor but finding zoning maps or even definitions of various categories seems to require some sort of incantation I don't know. You would think the county web sites would have zoning information but it appears to be some sort of gnostic secret knowledge. How would I go about getting this kind of information? GIS doesn't help much as I have no zone definitions.

We are moving to Texas this summer, It is overwhelming to say the least, We are retiring and though I am so happy Texas is building for all of us migrating there, I really am looking for a quiet place with mature trees and larger lot size, with a small town feel that wont change but not too far for shopping needs , healthcare, etc. Your state is so large even just to look at northern Texas is overwhelming, Taxes and housing costs have certainly gone up in last few yrs, We do love Dana's informational videos they are helping to certain degree, Wondering if there are pretty tree lined towns in northern Texas? I haven't noticed all that many, in these videos. I come from the North West and Trees are everywhere and I am sure this is a feature I will need to find to feel like Home in the south.

Well not as nice as east Texas or even in northern Houston, but some sections of Keller, Flower Mound, Southlake, Argyle, Colleyville, have some nice tree-lined areas, but not the tall evergreens that are so beautiful.

I'm sure if you bought your own lot not inside a neighborhood without deed restrictions you could. Just check with the city before purchasing any land.
