This was to the point and pretty helpful! I was literally thinking how to side chain without changing the kick much and boom KZbin algorithm came in clutch.

Awesome video but how do we adjust the phase of the kick like you were speaking on in this tutorial
@leftlane50853 жыл бұрын
thanks for this vid! also, you can keep just the sub on the main track and send the high end to another track. all you have to do is deactivate 'high' in the 'main out' section of frequency splitter by clicking the white button. then, in sends, have the high end sent to another track.

That’s awesome!! Now I don’t have to change my template haha

@@Inflightmuzik also, i think you can use your peak controller method and avoid artifacts with linear phase. Instead of having the peak controller control a band in parametric EQ2, you can have it control the 'Low' volume slider in Frequency Splitter (with Linear phase mode on).
@Inflightmuzik3 жыл бұрын
@@leftlane5085 because of the latency, it’s not really effective, especially with bigger projects.
@leftlane50853 жыл бұрын
@@Inflightmuzik ah interesting. i was testing it out with just an 808 and a kick... not in the context of a larger project. it was sounding quite similar to the method with fruity limiter. does more cpu usage make the latency more pronounced?
@Inflightmuzik3 жыл бұрын
@@leftlane5085 yep, the more cpu usage the more latency for sure. fl is designed to compensate for that and it does an incredible job at doing it ever since version 20. But when it comes to linear phase, there's not a single daw that is going to be able to fully compensate to introduce no extra latency. I tried adjusting the speed settings and quality. No luck on my end. They would have to update Fruity Peak controller to be completely in sync with Linear Phase processing.

great tutorial on FL limiter. No one ever discusses how to optimise the attack, release, sustain settings. I mean, as I watch it, it is kinda obvious what you need to do, but still! Edit: Oh, you got any insight on the “curve” setting. When would you use steeper curves? And apparently I do have frequency splitter. It is part of producer edition it seems. I always did this exact thing by sending sub to different tracks, and just freq split via simple parametric EQ. Are there clear advantages to using frequency splitter instead? Cuz I don't immediately see em. (and more commonly will have layered bass. So one layer will just be subs, up to maybe 200 hz. So I just sidechain that track).

If you're looking for more of a snap, for with the steep curve settings. I honestly find leaving the curve setting as is works best for me, but if you do want to adjust it, do that last. Then you'll get most of what you're looking for and simply fine tune it with the curve.

couldn't this potentially be done without any sends or extra mixer tracks by directly controlling the low band level knob with an automation clip? not sure if there is smoothing on the band level knobs in frequency splitter
@Inflightmuzik3 жыл бұрын
How did that turn out for ya? I avoid automation clips if I don’t have to use them...just my personal preference. I assume it works fine.
@jon08303 жыл бұрын
@@Inflightmuzik this is my main method when using frequency splitter for sidechaining lows as i'd rather keep the mixer clean at the expense of an automation clip. Sounds fine although there can be a bug with the UI syncing with the audio (doesn't seem to affect sound though)

I have an issue where i set a peak controller for a delay with reverb in a vocal ( to fill up gaps between phrases and the transition between the hook and the verse ) but fruity peak controller kicks in too quick so it doesn't let the reverb play for a few milliseconds or so and you can hear how it shut down the reverb volume completely when the vocal plays, Any ideas how to fix this? is there a setting like ''Attack'' for the peak controller?
@Inflightmuzik3 жыл бұрын
Change the mixer track delay compensation after switching to manual delay compensation in mixer settings.
