Thank you! Turns out my 4090 was running PCIex 8 4.0 instead of 16, Had to manually change it in the BIOS and now its showing x16 4.0. I had a MSI z790 motherboard and CPU PCIe was set to auto which made it x8 4.0, Manually set it to x16 and now its fine

running an RTX 3090 max globally isn't a good advice. I'd recommend just having it on max performance on actual games

This isn’t a guide for you then, this 3090 runs max all the time, this is a stock P state on the GPU, it isn’t an overclock.

@@Xilly I know, but it doesnt do anything and it's running max. Very inefficient for energy consumption. Applying it on a per game basis is much better and it's basically the same performance

You should avoid selecting "Prefer Maximum Performance" because it causes the GPU to use more power than necessary. Once you're in a game, the GPU will automatically draw the power it needs. Nvidia’s control panel settings are largely obsolete nowadays, as modern games include optimized settings for all GPUs and manage performance on their own. While these settings made a significant difference for older graphics cards, they don’t have much impact on newer ones or my RTX 4070. What has actually made a noticeable difference-something that wasn’t as effective in the past-is overclocking. My 4070 now runs at 3,000MHz under load instead of the stock 2,625MHz, which was considered its upper limit. I added +215MHz to the core clock and +1,300MHz to the memory clock, and as a result, Forza Horizon jumped from 135 FPS at max settings to a stable 160 FPS, with no stutters. However, power consumption increased from 88W to 180W. Performs like a 4070Ti now. This is why "Prefer Maximum Performance" isn't a good choice-it increases power draw even when idle. If you're going to use more power, it should be for actual performance gains, not unnecessary background consumption.

GPUZ program has the 3.0 x16 selected after render for a 30 series card, 4.0 x16 should be on but its not comaptible with the motherboard- select anything different or just the bios settings u mentioned?

what if the best is 3.0 x16 on first slot _gen 4 gpu, would this change from what you mentioned around gpu-z being configured to do the gen 3 on bios gpu, and auto link speed just the same as your video guide, but capable of x16 4.0, just not in the pcie slots.

No. Honestly I wouldn’t really recommend it at all tbh. Doing an undervolt at the recommended max speeds is much better for the card with similar results

Gives more FPS in some games even though it doesn't get enabled if you have it disabled in BIOS, in Call of Duty its already disabled for the specific NVIDIA profile itself. ReBAR isn't "bad", its just game dependent and most of the time does nothing or worsens lows.

good luck corrupting your bios, i recommend using a optimization video for your pc that doesn't mess with the registry.i would not recommend messing with the registry as it may corrupt your windows or bios and has happened to me before.

BIOS is hardware based, not a single setting in this video tampers with anything that could cause corruption, the only registry tweak shown was one at the end that is based on a persons current temperatures and platform.
