One of the best pieces of advice/wisdom that I was ever given was from a pastor who had lost his adult daughter suddenly to an acute autoimmune storm. He said that the only way forward is to learn how to plod through every single day, every single hour, every single moment. Jesus meets us as we methodically plod through our days in His strength.

Thankfully, my situation was not mentally. It was a diagnosis of PFO a congenital heart disease. It was confirmed that stress from my ex spouse brought on attacks. Now that he is out of my life, I have not experienced those panic attacks. I was healed as soon as he left me. I still have pfo. Him leaving me saved my life. No more 911.

I had a therapist who told me a very profound truth about faith and depression. I had repeated the falsehood that “if you have enough faith, you will be healed of your depression”. She simply responded, “Janice, people who carry the cross of depression are some of the most faithful people in the world. They carry on without light, joy and peace of mind.” I’ve thought of this idea often since then. I’ve come to understand that sometimes He calms the sea and other times He calms the sailor. It’s been nearly 21 years since I was smacked with post partum depression. It got easier to think clearly and enjoy life. I still have struggles that take all my faith and skills to get through. Learning coping strategies really helped. When I’m in the darkness I reach out for His hand and He guides me through.

Debra your explanations and vulnerability are so spot on, I know exactly what you went through and how unbelievably lost one can feel. We forget that instead of telling people what to do in times of crisis we need to be there and help carry their burdens. We are to be 'church' for them, it would help more just to be there than to preach prayer or medication. Thanks again for being vulnerable and open so that others can learn. God bless Jim and company may His grace envelope you daily.

Feelings of dread is an actual symptom of an impending heart attack. If you look around and there’s nothing to dread, call your doctor. After you’ve had a heart attack you cry endlessly because your whole body is suppressed (and I believe it is the guttural prayer). No one tells you this after the heart attack so we need to avoid putting that sorrow on someone else, it’s literally your whole body has just been traumatized and it isn’t anyone’s fault….not even yours.

I love this, but we are created in His image. That means we are more spiritual beings that need more of His presence and to me if you have a panic attack that means you have too much on your plate. He doesn't expect us to do it all, but He also wants us to rely solely on Him not pharnekia or man. I do agree counseling is necessary for trauma and ptsd etc. But I also believe that we need to be set free with deliverance from these strongholds like depression, anxiety etc. Some will not understand what I am saying because they have only been fed half the gospel. I used to think I needed to seek counselor until I was actually delivered from demons like anxiety, depression and trauma. It's a process and you have to continue to walk in that deliverance, but please don't exclude deliverance from this healing care.🕊🙏

@@margosood1959 I just read your response. Sadly I understand what you are saying. I too am taking a break from church. Pray we both find a place to fellowship-a place where folks are open and supportive to life’s trials and struggles. Gods peace be with you as you seek rest in His truth. 🙏❤️🤗

I am taking a forced break from church due to transportation issues but before that it was a struggle finding healing in church.

I would be interested in hearing about deliverance versus mental health counseling.

Me too. I cannot afford counseling or pharmaceuticals. Is that the only way to a healthy life of spiritual peace?

Thank you for such wisdom. Is there a resource for listings of Christian counselors?

Thanks, Tracy, for reaching out to us. You can search for counselor referrals on our website (bddy.me/3HuwawI). Alternatively, if you’d like to talk with one of our counselors (at no cost to you), call 855-771-HELP (4357) weekdays between 6 A.M. and 8 P.M. (MT).
