As a resident OCE RLCS person, Evample doesn't smurf a lot. He just changes the name of his account, I think it's just for funny but also hides his identity a bit. If you pay attention to the names in clips he is hitting stuff with/against OCE pros. For example, Lunr, Panzer, Bigrooster and Aziz are all in this video. He's rolled Torsos in a 1v1 on stream before without Torsos recognising him and complaining the entire time (good watch).

RLCS is not more boring now IMO. The top 8 teams are closer than ever this season. The better defense forces players to score insane passing plays and more mechanical shots. It’s fascinating to watch how synchronized players are with their teammates and how creative teams need to be to score sometimes.

Evample is probably one of the best ground freestylers over all. His dashes and dribbles have 5k+ hours of practise in em.

Evample is so good he makes the top oce players look like he’s in casuals. I’m no where near this level in Oce but what I’ve noticed from a lot of the higher level players in Oce is that everyone kinda just freestyles in comp. Everyone just lets people go for their shots and defend on the goal line. Oce is different to the rest of the world

While OCE pros are not 1700mmr, they aren’t usually more then 100mmr into SSL. The reason is because our player base is much smaller (we have less than 30million population in Australia, NA is over 500million). Therefore, it’s actually much, much harder to even get to SSL. Our average high GC3 player would probably be higher skilled than the average low SSL in somewhere like NA, just because they can’t actually get to SSL because they are facing pros constantly.

Yeah, I peaked 1690 on oce and i will say it was much easier last season than previous seasons, but it’s still really hard to not queue pros in high lobbies, blue tags are everywhere

A few things 1. Evample doesn't smurf (that often, that I know of). He's a steam player and loves a name change - mainly for stealth purposes because of 2. 2. Most people know who evample is, especially on OCE. This makes them play differently against him, like being scared to challenge because he's gonna pull out some wild shit. Also you kinda just want to watch him do his thing. You can say "This wouldn't work in top 100", and maybe that's true, but it's his unpredictablility that makes evample so good and fun to watch. He looks like he has no control over what he's doing but the suddenly pulls out a 130km flick. And he only needs it work once to get his clip. 3. OCE SSLs are 1700 because our region is a low population region. There just isn't enough high ranked players to actually rank up. You can be GC3, and because there's so few players you could be versing a pro (which means it's almost impossible to win and climb any higher). You can be a pro, but you're only versing other pros and people worse than you, so it's much harder to improve when what you are already doing is working. Maybe if we have a bigger region we could compete well, or maybe it will just confirm the differences in our region's ability, who knows... 4. Even though he hits a LOT of clips in comp, some are in casual too. This links back to 3, because he is a very high mmr player and he used to stream/play at like 1am OCE time. If he didn't queue casual, he would be in queue for like 30 minutes every time he wants to play a game.

Freestylers dont tend to smurf on purpose, their casual mmr just end up a lot lower because they lose a lot of games going for shots. Pulse Fire talked about it at some point before he stopped uploading but even then a decent amount of the clips that Evample uses and posts are from ranked games

Evample was one of the very first people doing multi-flip reset shots. There is a video from like 2016/2017 on Johnny's channel of him looking absolutely isane for the time in a flip reset only 1v1. But yeah, in the history, Evample struggled to qual for RLCS largely due to being a bit too "slow" of a player.

​@@prodcio Evample could take a game off Kep. That's all tho. Kep is just too consistent. Evample has a lot of skill, but Kep knows how to play against freestylers and wouldn't give him enough time. It's not Evample's fault, he just hasn't been awarded the same opportunity to hone his skills against many, many skilled players. If Evample dedicated all his freestyling hours to the Pro grind, AND was on a better region, it's very possible he could be just as good, if not better. We will never know though

Evample doesnt smurf, he's often the first to reach ssl in oce, and a significant portion of his clips are against high level oce players. Most of the names are no names internationally, but everyone in oce knows them because they're properly good and on fair ping would reach 2k mmr pretty handily in NA/EU.

Example is like the only case in RL of someone who’s really never been a pro but could have easily been. I think in like 2018 he was non debatably a top 5 player in OCE and just the best 1s player but he’s a freestyler through and through and really never cared about RLCS or 3s. It's what every controller players says , but like every other mechanic, being able to do it and being able to apply it correctly are two different things. Trust me stalling like he does is not easy, I play KBM and can stall quite well however I'm nowhere near his skill, and I've put over 2.5k hours into RL always KBM

Kind of weird to be saying oh well this or that would never work in a top 100 lobby... Evample never claimed any of it would, although a lot of these clips are from SSL tourneys and against OCE pros. He is a freestyler, not an RLCS pro, and has a massive following because he doesn't just do aerial mech, his ground mech is also some of the best in the world too which is a rare combination. Interesting to note however, that a lot of mechanics freestylers were doing for years did eventually make their way into the competitive scene and the highest level, and are still used today in RLCS, so saying these wouldn't work in a pro lobby is silly because we see pros do them all the time. Evample was effortlessly top 100 1v1 for many years, although these days i think he just makes content, not sure even he would know what his real 1v1 rank would be if he tried. And besides, in OCE it would take him hours to find a match anyway, it's just not worth waiting. Fast matchmaking is a privilege OCE is not accustomed to unfortunately.
