There’s a story about Peter and a young Dave weckl being pen pals in Dave’s formative years I believe peter had something to do with getting weckl to move to New York I could be way off but it seems familiar to me. Really digging yours and Paul’s collaboration as of late i’m learning so much thanks Ken and Paul keep ‘em coming ..

To me at least, the '80s felt like an era of 'consolidation' in jazz, in which there was a more comfortable mingling of fusion (born in the late '60s but brought to fruition in the '70s) and more conventional streams of jazz (pre- and post-bop) that were becoming less impactful with their waning influence by the late '60s. I think that this development, along with the increased time capacity of the CD that made career and genre spanning box sets feasible, led to the era we're now in, when a larger audience is tuned in and open to (and has access to) the larger universe of jazz in all its forms.
