Todd Carney never played in Australia after the piss-drinking incident, but that was because he had multiple instances of doing stupid things while drunk in the past (DUI, vandalism, lighting someone on fire). He played a few more years in France and England after that.

As an Australian, yeah we're very chill about our politicians. Very few are outright hated or truly beloved. Most are "eh they're decent *for a politician*" cos unlike American politics we're kinda aware that you can't fucking trust a word a politician says. So when our politicians tell us they're gonna raise minimum wage we kinda get all "I'll believe it when I see it" than cheer.
