Checked it out at the local Trek shop recently and was stunned how impressive and beautiful it is when you actually see it live.

Just picked this bike up went SRAM vs 105 today. Love it! No gumwall tires. I had a Emonda SL6 AXS prior to this. This weighs 18.59 pounds. The Emonda weighed 19.69. Same gear .

Great video, thanks a lot for getting into all of the details!!! According to google the Gen7 SL frameset weight is: 1050g - 56cm (frame-only, painted) 418g (fork-only, painted), which is very close to the new one. On the other side, on the new one they sacrificed the looks! Gen7, which I own, looks like a rocket ship, while the new one looks worse compared to Orca Aero or Canyon, but it's a lot more expensive. I would personally wouldn't upgrade, as the new one is a downgrade!

Not a fan of this change, they just made a heavy Emonda and a slow Madone to decrease manufacturing costs.

Heavy considering this is now Trek's climbing bike. Emonda cancelled. I have a 2017 Trek Emonda that comes in at 14 lbs ready to ride.
@Jamesthebikeguy
@Jamesthebikeguy 6 ай бұрын
Yes this also a mid-spec variant. The 2017 Emonda was especially light (even more so the SLR) but this bike would still be faster over a long ride regardless of additional weight when compared to the equivalent 2017. FWIW, the 2017 SL 6 weighed in one ounce shy of 17lbs. So not much weight gain for way more overall bike.

Removing the 60 is a huge mistake. The short front end on the 58 is going to force me into a longer stem and put me in danger of toe overlap but the jump to the 62 has the top tube so high I can't ride it. I was 100% going to get this bike but now I am forced to pass. I wonder if Trek's bean counters are going to factor the lost sales into their brilliant cost cutting move.

Hmmm? Sounds like a fit would be in order regardless of what bike you choose.

over 100 million in order of the gen 8 and sold 10 million on the first day. Just put a smaller stem on and your issue is solved. Do a P1 build and pick your stem length.

I see what they were trying to do here, but they ruined/ended two perfectly good models to make a bastard child of a bike. Too heavy to be an Emonda, too soft to be a real Madone.
