I marched Crossmen 2012, and I gotta say that we were very happy with making finals. Glad that you enjoyed the show, however 2012 was a GREAT season and I completely agree with the final standings.

I freaking LOVE CROWN SO MUCH! There is something about that Crown they drill on the field at the end of every show that makes me love them more than everyone else. That signature Crown is just.. AHHH! I love Carolina Crown!

I find myself truly blessed to share this field with such incredible performers over the past four seasons. Each corps brings something special. I have to say, Crown's drill writer is brilliant. Their show screams references to Star of Indiana. That moment with the triangle feels like it's from Star '93 to me, and the following drill keeps hinting at a star formation, then suddenly unfolds into a crown. Amazing.

Haven't been to a DCI in a dog's age. Still great stuff. I'd like this footage to make the evening news in re: youth to-day. Video games , phewee. Watching only the Cadets and Phantom, can't imagine how they could place 3 or 4 th. But all the Corps were exciting and had their strengths. Crown was very good, I thought

Crossmen absolutely smoked in Semis to get to Finals and it's good to see Bones back. Madison made their pinwheel look easy (when it isn't!); whether intentional or note the company front moving at an oblique in Great Gate of Kiev was a nice homage to SCV '84 who debuted the same move during their huge closing push in Tenderland which can be found on YTube.

back in the pre-Bb days, contrabass bugles were used. The marching tubas were similar enough so they used those. They're a more direct sound that sousas as well.

I was intensely in love with this event for many years. It faded somewhat a few years ago when many of the corps where trying too hard to impress the crowds. I've recently rekindled my love affair with Drum Corps and while I understand some things have changed the most surprising thing - IMHO - was watching the cavaliers show and realizing that there was no artistry to it. I know countless hours of hardwork went into it - I don't to diminish that aspect of it - but.....what happened to them?

It's very rare that a show is so perfectly written for a corps. Overall, that group was *young* and they worked to achieve the show that was presented to them.

I highly agree with CJMcGechie. I felt like this year scoring wise was bad. I think the reason the Blue Devils got it this year was because the judges wanted them to rack up another trophy. But, in my opinion, I thought that the Bluecoats should have been in the top 2, if not 3. I think the Crossmen were highly underrated. But all that matters is that the members have fun. If/When I think about joining DCI, it won't be because of the trophies or ratings. It will be to have a blast.

Carolina Crown was amazing!!! I am a huge fan. I would like to see them beat the Blue Devils. If you take a close look at dci history, the blue devils lost every 2 years. Maybe crown will take them down next. Good luck to Carolina Crown in their 2013 season.

I'm listening to the Crossmen trumpet solo going, "...the judges should have checked for the mic." But there was no mic, and that was one of the most amazing trumpet tones for the high register I have ever heard. I know you want to keep our relationship "spicy*, but I miss when you would just play a complete single song instead of 15 minutes of a "theme" filled with dissonant minor chords followed by dramatic pauses followed by a really loud chord (usually minor). DCI is the best spectator "sport" in the Summer besides baseball and should be much more widely-known. It combines melody, beat, drill, dance, drama, competition and color like nothing else. There is nothing like being smoked by 100 yards of sound! No recording comes close to re-creating it. You just have to be there. How about a DCI reality show?

Take a look at the recap. I was thrown at first also, but I saw a lot of these shows last year, and most of the corps that people are saying should be ranked higher were atrocious visually. Blue Devils [deservingly] got perfect Visual analysis/GE Visual/Color Guard scores across the board, so the fact that CC beat them in brass is irrelevant, even though their show theme wasn't my personal favorite. I'm glad you like the "fun" aspect of it, it's just not really scored that way.
