Best of Dead by Daylight 2v8 mode

What are your thoughts on the 2v8 mode? Did you like it more than Chaos Shuffle? Killer was enjoyable, but the long queues and small roster were a pretty big limitation. Huntress was pretty much a staple pick, with Wraith being close. If you played Trapper and Billy you were asking for a loss. Survivor could be fun as well, but you pretty much needed someone to queue with to coordinate, and even then, being chased by two killers at the same time was extremely boring and unfun.

Chaos Shuffle > 2v8 > Lights Out. Chaos Shuffle brings almost everything I want to 1v4. Not facing the same builds every single game is actually so fucking amazing; every game feels fresh, and people are forced to abandon what they're used to and step out of their comfort zone. The satisfaction of simple things like not dealing with annoying meta perks like Pain Res or Dead Hard 99% of the time, and getting random perk combos to work, is absolutely golden. Even getting outplayed by a niche perk is cool as fuck. All that's needed is random items and addons, and no map offerings in the offering pool. 2v8 is great because it's a totally new experience. It just needs more killers, more classes for survivor and more maps (a huge Léry's could unironically be interesting). I think getting double-teamed is just how it's always going to be, though. Lights Out was just... meh. It just isn't as interesting as the others. I didn't play My Little Oni so I'm not counting it. And it's an April Fools joke.

I played only survivor and i enjoyed that, yea it is kinda frustrating being chased by 2 killers, but that's okay because im solo wasting their time while others on gens

"If you played Trapper and Billy you were asking for a loss" Billy was literally the strongest support character, when combined with wraith thats probably the best killer combo possible, even without comms. For a fun gamemode the balance was pretty on point

Zubat has said as much in his streams: the novelty was fun originally, but it didn't take long for the community to figure out 2v1ing every down was the only strategy worth trying.

Chaos Shuffle was surprising fun on both sides. 2v8 is miserable as Survivor.

I only played solo queue survivor since killer queues were long, so i only have half the experience. 2V8 was fun if you wanted a more casual and laid off experience, but it gets old quickly. Realistically you only get to play against huntress 95% of the time and either nurse of wraith. Which made me hate huntress quite a lot, especially if you get bad ping into account. However, as survivor you got a lot of resourses, so much in fact i was kinda thrown off by the "lack" of resourses in 1v4. Because of that, it was easier to loop killers. And gen speeds were B E A U T I F U L (great skill checks go boom). Solo queue is gonna solo queue so survivor coordination was a mixed bag: sometimes you got a gen efficient team, but most times you saw only 3 or 4 people in gens and badly spread (why is everybody grouped up wtf go away). Basically it was a fun mode, but im sure there are a lot of things we can improve. Again, i didnt play killer so im biased and i could be very wrong, but these are my two cents.

2v8 was the most fun I had in DBD in a LOOONG time. 6k hours - started end of 2019 - mostly survivor with some short killer periods thrown in. Played both sides a lot in 2v8 and enjoyed both. Killer queue times sucked but I just open YT on second monitor until I got in a match lol. So much better than the other modes imo. Chaos shuffle could've been better but the "random" perks felt like the most unused perks by pick rate data got favored, so you'd see a lot of the same crappy perks over and over again. If it was legit "random" it probably would've been as good as 2v8. Now hear me out... 2v8... with lights out... with randomized perks.... THAT would be nuts. Absolutely awful to play for sure but it'd be funny for a week.

You weren't tripping, the perks from Chaos Shuffle were bad, but that's simply because 75-85% of the perks in DBD are bad. It likely has no weighting whatsoever.

@@xefficient1948 No I'd see a lot of the same ~10 perks EVERY GAME. I don't remember what perks exactly, it's been a long time since then, but I remember getting the one same perk 3/4 consecutive games. That doesn't happen in an equal randomizer. I have better chances of sniping my favorite streamers and getting in their lobbies than that happening.

As a survivor, it was fun for the first week, when there were either baby killers or no huntress/nurse games. After 1 week it became kinda boring because of comp huntresses with some of the most weird hits i've ever seen. But even so, i enjoyed it pretty much. Escaping from both killers at once felt unbelievably good and the escapist class brought many fun moments. As a killer, most of the games i played trapper. If you had a decent teammate that could buy you some time to set traps, then games were going very smoothly with constant downs and stable 5-8 kills. So I enjoyed also that side of 2v8 very much. The main problem of this mode is just that almost every killer player is a sweaty nerd who picks the easiest choice(huntress/nurse) and on top of that tries to slug for 8k. If bhvr will decide to bring other killers in that mode it will become even worse with sweaty spirit and blight mains and i dont believe they would balance it correctly so that was probably the best version of this mode we will have.

Personal experience with Chaos Shuffle was kinda awful, kept getting the no perks bug or the same perks over and over, was kinda tiring. 2v8 is kinda fun? But needs a lot of work, and in my opinion you shouldn't be able to be 2v1d. It's highly frustrating when you're trying to put all your work into being AN ESCAPIST. And simply 2v1d because they can't catch you, as you've stated in your other 2v8 videos there are 7 other survivors you can go for if you can't catch me (yeahyeah I get it strat but after seeing even you get frustrated and go back to 1v4 it's a problem, especially with overpowered duos). And the PING, holy hell the ping is garbage in 2v8 the amount of times I've gotten hit when I was nowhere near the huntress' hatchets or a swing from a killer, horrible.

I won't lie, I think 2v8 was overhyped. Sure, a few issues could be fixed with time, like expanding the killer roster or tweaking mechanics, but frankly, the core gameplay loop is a lot less fun than regular DBD. An entire segment of the survivor gameplay was removed with carrying/hooking (flashlights lost a key utility) and ultimately chases felt a lot less fun. Each Killer received buffs (some more than others) that gave them way more leeway (for example, I was playing a survivor match where I was hardly able to make it halfway through the exit gate, from about where the switch is, because Huntress's wind up and cooldown are much quicker than usual. She was between me and the exit so I did have to go through her, which does cut into it, but even with the speed boost I could not run past her out of m1 range), and as a result, the pallet designs were mostly boring filler pallets that you were incentivized to just pre-drop. On top of that, Killers could easily just gang up on you, leading to unrewarding chases, which was arguably more effective than two separate chases because it still took 16 seconds to heal while you can down someone in a quarter second flat. Plus, I ran into a few Hillbilly/Wraith attached-at-the-hip combos which were even more annoying because it was getting ganged up on with extra steps. Like, I really can't imagine just adding in new killers and classes or even adding in totems and whatnot would fix much, because at the core of it, the survivor loop is incredibly boring in most instances (which we can see with the queue times even with 5x BP for survivor). And never even mind the MMR being nonexistent, it was painful. When I played Killer, in at least half my matches the cage wheel would be 80% red. Like brother a survivor is looping you at the RPD save room pallet for 9 minutes what are you doing anyway Chaos Shuffle was better no question
