Thanks my friend! These things can get pretty big with my PB being 61" and probably 50 lbs. Scary thing is they get a heck of a lot bigger!

Yup I’ve seen an Atlantic sturgeon get caught on the Saint John don’t know the size but it makes me feel bad about my pb fish being a 6 lb smallie

What camera? Or is there better one out? Amazing work. Really trying to document my sturgeon catches. How many, size, date, time. 91 inch 54 girth so far is my biggest. Guessing around 200# going off the charts

This is the Water Wolf, but I'm not sure they make them anymore? There are others out their, just Google it, and I'm sure they'll come up. Some beautiful fish you're catching

You ever try stink bait Matt?
@MasterCrowOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I haven't Mike, but know it would work. I've used fresh fish and shrimp, but honestly I've always had the best results with crawlers. Have you used it? Bought or homemade?

@@MasterCrowOutdoors Stink bait for sturgeon is like eel or sardines, something that puts off a smell. There's also Pro-Cure sents that you could use, even on nightcrawlers. If they can smell it, they'll find it. Your video is good proof of that. Nightcrawlers don't give off a smell and you have to be real lucky to have one swim right over it. You put some crawdad scent on that worm, it's all over. Anthony calls it his secret sauce. Salmon love it for sure. OSH :-)

They pretty much feed by luck don't they. Stripers went dead here last two nights not a bite last night we tried down river two of the older guys that know the river like the back of there hand came to the boat slip when we were getting out to see if we got anything told us we didn't go down far enough and that bunch of bass we were in to was the end of the winter run and give it 2 weeks the spring run will come. Don't know if that's true or not but those two guys live to fish and hunt.

Sturgeon are vacuum feeders and researchers have found lots of non-edible contents in their stomachs. Saying that, those tentacles are pretty sensitive and can sniff out food from a long ways off. That's why you typically see them coming up river as the scent is drifting into them. If they feel anything at all that doesn't seem right, (like line or the hook) they instantly spit it out. Very tricky to hook, but a heck of a fight. Put muskie to shame! I heard the bite died off with the stripers. I'm going to wait a few weeks before I start chasing them. Stay safe my friend!
