The way Erin dumped Gabe was brutal, but 100% justified. Gabe has been shown to be manipulative (whether consciously or unconsciously) and Erin often struggles to assert herself. Even the way they got together was pretty skeezy- Gabe asked out his subordinate and Erin felt she couldn’t say no to her boss. I’m sure that, if she broke up with him privately, Gabe would have pressured her into staying. It’s a pattern we see with the men who are interested in Erin- they all, to some degree, take advantage of Erin’s naivety and overwhelming desire to be loved. Pete’s the only exception to this, and luckily the one she ends the show with.

I don't think so. The fact that he has no clue he's being invasive (or does he? It doesn't matter, it's the same outcome either by him being conscious or not of this behaviour) nor has he any empathy towards Erin... he's just not capable of being empathic, it's something you either are or you aren't, it has nothing to do with the person you relate to, and to me this is the #1 thing for both people to make a relationship be functional and loving (these last two words - functional and loving - go without saying in a relationship for really empathic people - not the ones who say they are and aren't, there are also those out there. Beware of "cognitive empathy", it looks like the real deal but is absolutely NOTHING like it).

I agree a little bit. Like as a fan I didn't really want the plots that happened a bit later on in the series. Love Erin tho and I like that they shined light on young girls in business and how bosses should acknowledge the power imbalance when making moves on an employee. She's young and learns to stand up for herself even if it is brutal how she breaks up with him. Older men especially when you're not matured by life yet can be pretty scary and Gabe was definitely manipulative. Can lead to a lot of vengful anger when you grow from a girl to a woman and realise how and who took advantage of your naivety even when they knew better. Anyways lol just chatting away at 5 am watching the office shorts don't mind me

From comments dropped here and there, they sort of implied that Gabe was with prostitutes and he also made comments about being told he was a ‘great hugger’ which implied that’s as far as women would let him get. I will give the Gabe character credit for having a very nice apartment in Viewing Party and he also seemed to know how to provide food to his guests😂😂
