I heard the part about the being nice to waiters and it reminded me of when I worked for a well known place. Well one day they hired this new girl for waiting and she never had a job before so she was new to everything. Well, she did really good and was very nice, but one table was just abusive and crude. She honestly still tried showing kindness and they left her a 3 cent tip. 3 CENTS. She actually went crying in the back and so me being on dishes I took out $20 and put it in the plates and played it off like it was her tip. She never knew and she still managed to work the rest of the day. Just be mindful that workers are people too.
