The moment the cammer saw the speeding car approaching, he also saw the police and the moment the car sped by the cammer should have immediately pulled over to his right knowing that lane was free. But, the police instinctively saw that the cammer had froze and he took that free right lane to pass. Just the same, knowing the cammer was aware of traffic flow behind him is impressive. The majority of drivers are just simply clueless. Kudos to the cammer.

@@palco22 It is recommended on freeways like that, especially with a lot of traffic, to just stay put and at a consistent speed and let them weave around you. Speeds are so high that police are looking ahead for a way to go and stepping on the brakes and changing lanes is considered more dangerous. If they are directly behind you and you are blocking their path, then yes change lanes to move out of the way.

Immediately after the truck appears past the cop car, it passes 3 lines in 24 frames (1 second on this channel). If those lines follow U.S. standard, it's 40 ft from the beginning on one line to the beginning of the next. So it went 120 ft in 1.0 seconds. That's 82 mph, or 17 mph over the speed limit.

If someone is losing their life for going 5 over, whatever happened would have caused their life to end going the speed limit. You can't show anyone an accident caused by someone doing 5 mph over the speed limit. Also, cops won't write tickets for 5 over, ask them, in person or in a defensive driving course. 5 over is generally a walk, they are looking for secondary offenses. That is why acting all giddy and happy, and even more stupid, filming it and sending it in, is braindead mentality.

Looks like a regular through in one direction, stop signs the other (with a crosswalk if people push the crossing button). Zipper merges are meant to be used as the Honda at @2:15 was trying to use them. Use the entire lane to get over, and people in the adjoining lane should let them in (like a zipper, imagine that). Otherwise it is a waste of roadway, amd people trying to bully them out are messing with that flow. Also, I doubt the Honda received any citations (or maybe aggressive driving, if any) whereas the van retaliated by crossing the merge point and forcing them off the road.
@JH-wd6dp

Looks to me like the Honda passed at the point where the two lanes already merged and should have remained behind the van/trailer, but I would have liked to see a bit more of the road before that point.

@@JH-wd6dp Not really, ... to be picky, the beginning of the double yellow line (1:50) would indicate the end of the left lane. The van driver was just being an *sshole or self appointed traffic controller. The Honda wasn't exactly a saint either. He could have just sat back behind the van. Jumping one or two more vehicles would not have taken him closer to home.
@JH-wd6dp
@JH-wd6dp Жыл бұрын
@@palco22 Actually, the lack of lane markings that show a clear separation of lanes indicates there's only a single lane instead of two. If there were two lanes, there should be a broken white line in between the vehicles. So the lack of such markings would indicate the left lane has already ended. The double yellow section you referred to simply indicates it's no longer a divided highway. Since we're being picky.
@palco22
@palco22 Жыл бұрын
@@JH-wd6dp Obviously this clip's lack of information concerning actual lane division makes it difficult to be precise. That being said I get the impression that it is newly laid asphalt and the paint that we see also seems fresh. (Obviously, I could be mistaken) but general rule a paver will leave a seam that indicates lane division. Are the signs indicating left lane ending the only ones in the last 1000 feet ? I would think not but are the last indicators of the closing lane. However, the beginning of the double yellow line (1:50) does indicate the end of the left lane and as you mention the lack of divisive lines makes it difficult to asses. In any case we are trying to split hairs and way off the subject mater, that is both drivers are beanheads.

If someone is speeding but not bothering anyone (not weaving through traffic, cuting people off, tailgating, etc.), getting pulled over is just bad luck. Like #4. The truck didn't do anything to anyone else to deserve "karma" of getting pulled over. Dude was just speeding.
