Sir Andy Murray and Usain Bolt , absolutely, but Sir Mo Farah’s 10 000 and 5 000 m double was unforgettable. Also the image of the Olympic rings being forged and raised at the opening ceremony was truly iconic. Some very random minority sport moments thrown in. What was so special about them?

Unfortunately, that is what France demonstrated in the Olympics. I canceled my vacation to Paris. Greece welcomes you anytime for vacation. Santorini is beautiful and they will not try to make fun of your idols and heritage. Russia and China are beautiful destinations as well. With rich culture and thousands of years of civilization. Although China is an atheist nation, but Chinese people care about the feelings of others, and they will not make you feel unwelcome.

I started watching the opening ceremony but had to switch off due to the poor quality of the entertainment. I was hoping to see the best of French talent, instead I saw Lady Gaga (not French!) giving a poorly choreographed karaoke performance and the women holding their heads under their arms was the last straw for me. I am part French but I just found it grotesque. Thankfully I turned off before the blasphemous part.
