God creates some persons with utmost perfection. Mandolin Sreenivas was created to spread ecstacy through his instrument. And may be we mortal human beings do not deserve such ecstacy for long, God takes such persons away to be near him immortally. Call him prodigy or genius, he played mandolin to our hearts and took us to the surreal world of perfection, eventhough for a few moments or few years. What he has left behind is enough for many generations to enjoy.....

Krishna Prasad Gopalarathnam Ranjani raga and the song rendition is so dramatic.. it makes you happy and sad at the same time.. excellent bhava and don't forget the last korvai.. very beautiful
The rare musical genius U.Shrinivas was born only for pure Indian classical music. He had done well in this karma and his place in carnatic music can not be replaced by anyone else. We are lucky to witness this great artist's eternal gems in carnatic music. Dear Shrinivas, your music is eternal although we are missing your physical presence.

Letter to Sri Srinivas To Shri U Srinivas Care of - Sriman Narayana Vaikundam Dear Srinivas, You were tirelessly serving us from the age of 5. Not to forget your smile while you play the mandolin. You were very fluent in playing mandolin. We were celebrating you as a Prodigy and you were being sent by Sriman Narayana to spread music through Mandolin. I came to know about Mandolin only after seeing you play at my age 12. Since my age of 12 till today I always listened to your creations with full devotion and I really felt the divine in my heart whenever I heard you play Mandolin. You never failed even once in entertaining music fans like us. Your loss was a great loss for the fans like me. Thanks to youtube which provides us the platform to listen to your eternal music. Hope you are playing mandolin at Vaikundam entertaining Sriman Narayana and azhwars. Thanks for entertaining us and left your creations with us for us to enjoy. May Sriman Narayana give strength and blessings to your bereaved family. Sridhar

It is not very often that one comes across a musical instrument so perfectly played that the chords pulled on it resonate with the musical strings in your heart....and when this happens, the effect is so sublime that one is moved beyond words. What a joy to hear......feel proud to have lived in the time of Mandolin Srinivas.....and such sorrow to have lost him . Those whom the gods love indeed die young..........

I don't exactly remember the year as a boy he played/performed Mandolin Concert in Sri Ram Samaj Ramanavami celeberations. Infact he was carried by someone to the stage n from the moment he played instrument he virtually became the audience's mass darling. Thereafter i happened to hear many concerts of his n everyone is memorable. Blessed immortal soul.

Starting the Bhairavi with a very short note of Alapana. யாரோ இவர் யாரோ ஒரு classic piece.
I read somewhere that he underwent marital trauma for the last 16 yrs of life. Im sure for most that would have dented professional career. But here is a man who despite that very level-headed, down-to-earth and always smiling at the audience during concerts. Sheer prodigy and God's gift.

Classical is class forever no fusion overtake classical.
This album is indeed , a great compilation of the legendary U Srinivas . Well recorded and presented to the audience with good quality audio . My only concern is with respect to the mixing of this album since i felt that the percussion instruments i:e Mridangam and Kanjira are very loud in comparison to the Mandolin and they seem to overshadow the main instrument itself ! Otherwise this album is really a treat to all the Carnatic lovers out there !
