Great memories of Memphis wrestling I miss it and lance Russell

The territory days were awesome. I loved the NWA and only got to see other territory guys when they would make an appearance on NWA programming or when NWA champions would tour the territories to wrestle their top guys. Now I love watching those smaller territories and seeing their storylines, what so many great wrestlers were doing before they made it to NWA/WCW and WWF/WWE, and where a lot of gimmicks originated at.

....Because THEY enjoyed it to the point that it left em both with wet-spots in their under-gear, especially Buddy who had to wear extra-moisture absorbing ones under his trunks....They just exuded how much pleasure they were getting from the beatings.... One thing I always liked about Bill Dundee. He has the little man’s complex like Napoleon, Tony Spilotro and Tommy DeVito from Goodfellas. He will not quit. He will fight you until you are out cold! as for Landell, it seems like everywhere he goes. People are carrying him like what Butch Reed did in mid south and Dundee here in Memphis inMemphis.

Even if it was controlled by Lawler , it was what I grew up on. I only wished I could have went to the Mid-South Coliseum one time. I never made it but watched many a match at the Nashville Fairgrounds. As a kid it was the best! Every territory had the stars who ran the show! (Crusher, Bruiser, Gagne etc). But hey … we all loved the old school wrestling no matter where we grew up.

The Koko match… wow… the saddest part is that in his long career, so early in it, that must’ve been his highlight. Obviously, there was zero chance he’d beat Flair. What story line would THAT be?!?!?! Not happening. But the match they performed? It put Koko on the same level as Flair… an even match which either man could’ve won. Koko never sniffed a title match again… always a b-carder… would crush any jobber but lose to any top card talent. He was always just a solid guy for top talent to beat. Really, it was no different on this match. But it FELT different as it was actually a title match and Koko was right there the whole time. Gotta be Koko’s high point… a bit sad, actually, since it came so early in his career. All downhill after that.

Koko had a great career in the WWF!! He made a lot of money working there. Are you crazy?
@millwx3 жыл бұрын
@@blacknatsu6623 ohhhhhh yeah, I know Koko was in the WWF. But are YOU crazy? LOL. You seemed to miss my point. He was always a B-card in the WWF. He NEVER got a title shot. Obviously, as he was a face, that would be tough (Hogan ruled for most of the time Koko was there), but still, Koko never even got close. He never even had an Intercontinental shot versus Savage. So, I stand by my comment. This match versus Flair was far and away Koko’s career highlight.., which is actually a little sad given how long his career lasted thereafter (he was in the WWF for at least 15 years). Sad. All downhill from here.
