One thing about Michele’s game is almost all of her confessionals are about other people. Not in a gossipy or mocking way. She has a strong sense of empathy and has a good read on other people and how they work and what motivates her. Self-awareness and knowing how your opponents act is THE key in Survivor. She has it in spades, combined with a good, sensible, not-flashy strategic game and good physical game it’s no wonder she won.

I don’t get it..... why was she such a disliked winner?........ lol. She definitely deserved to have won. People can say whatever they want to minimize her win. “She never had to go to tribal council.” Ok, that’s part of the game. If your tribe never loses, you don’t get voted out. “Med Evacs raised her chances of winning.” Like you people are unbelievable. We say anything we can to minimize and discredit players we don’t like. Like that’s part of the game. That can happen literally any season and all players and viewers know this going into any season. A tribe might never lose pre-merge. Medical evacuations can happen. Like nobody can simply just praise the girl for winning the season. “Aubry is the true winner.” But she isn’t though. Aubry did not win. And ironically, I loved Aubry over Michelle. But Michelle was the winner. Point blank. I’m aware S40 was filmed back in the summer, but I wish the best of luck to Michele and I hope she showed why she was a winner and goes far in Winners at War. Good luck, Michele! I’ll support you!

Matthew Enriquez thats part of the game and has always been part of the game since season 1. People will literally make any sort of excuse to discredit someone’s win such as a person like Michele. It’s kind of unbelievable. Whether we agree with the way someone played or not, Michele is still the winner and will always be the winner of season 32. We can convince ourselves all we want that Aubry was more deserving but the fact is that Michele won. People need to accept reality and move on. And another famous excuse all these years is about people winning due to a bitter jury. Bitter or not, that’s literally part of the game. Get to the end of the game without making the jury bitter with you..... it’s like the main point honestly. If you got to the end without making the jury bitter with you, you are more than likely going to win. Michele didn’t make enough people bitter with her, so she won. Aubry apparently did things to make people bitter with her, so she lost. Like I don’t understand why other people think it’s a hoax someone won due a bitter jury. Players from day one should know that if they make other players dislike them, they arnt gonna get voted for in the end. Why is it so hard for viewers to grasp that??? Michele deserved her win. Players like Tai and Aubry even said themselves a few times towards the end of that season “Michele hasn’t made any enemies and people on the jury like her.” They knew themselves she was gonna be worthy of winning. And she did. But viewers proceed to not accept the fact their favorite player didn’t win. It’s just sad in my opinion. If you win, you win. You deserved it. Everyone else can get a grip and get over it, lol. Even Boston Rob In the current season thats now airing said to her “let me just tell you something..... if you won, you won.” And Im like THANK YOU. I’m glad one of the most beloved players in survivor history even thinks that way. And I honestly feel kind of bad for Michele. She was very young when she won, and still is very young at 29 years old. But all the hate and criticism did affect her to a point that she has made comments like “people thought I was undeserving of my win” to the point It seemed as if she made herself question if she was even deserving of her win.... no winner should ever have that thought in their head. Because it’s unfair to themselves. And that’s why I appreciated Rob’s words to her. Because he is right. He is SO right. If you win, you win.

Aubry was a very good player, but only in a single aspect-strategy. While that is an extremely important part of the game, so is the social aspect. Michele had it all. She had an insane social game, she was a good strategist AND she was great at challenges. Most of all she had empathy. She could make people trust her. She's like if Sandra was kind. She's under the radar but still controlling the game. Most women in this show get seen a ditzy and unintelligent, but Michele absolutely destroys this concept. Love ya Michele.

She's a good social player and is definitely smart enough to be a good strategic player . . . but her archetype is a dime a dozen. We've seen countless Survivor players who are good socially but who get booted out by more strategically aggressive players who've been able to marshall together effective alliances. Not to mention, she got lucky with the medevacs which aided her game tremendously. Basically, my main problem with Michelle is that I don't think her game is particularly transferable unless you are SUPER charismatic. It is too dependent on outside variables: Do other people like you, do other people like who you like, who wins immunity, what type of players you are playing against. Other playing styles are dependent on variables like that as well, but her specific archetype especially so.

Michelle and the digit symbol puzzle: both Michelle and Julia needed only one time to memorize all 12 number/symbol associations. Both were on the BEAUTY tribe. Being beautiful DOES NOT mean a person is not intelligent but on survivor, gorgeous women are seen as being dumb. In this case both Julia and Michelle showed their exceptional intelligence. Similar number/symbol associations and speed of memory are used on standard intelligence tests. Those who can associate 8 digit/symbols are seen as intelligent. Both these women memorized 12 and under the most stressful conditions possible. Tai was put on the beauty team. Both Michelle and Julia could have been put on the BRAIN team. Julia and Michelle were close in age but but are super intelligent. Water seeks its own level. The producers pick the most attractive and most intelligent contestants to be on the Survivor show. I'd love to see Michelle and Julia on the next BRAIN team if those tribes come back for a recall. Imagine the type of response the show will get when common misconceptions are overturned.

Natalie White and Michelle have very similiar technique in winning the game.they observe others a lot and have great emotional and social intelligence that they know everybodys position in the game. They try to find cracks and insert themselves very subtly. And they are very level headed and dont take emotional decisions. They may not be entertaining like parvati sandra or tony...but their game is so hidden and subtle that no one will see it coming, which makes them extremely dangerous. Its not fair to say they didnt earn it. they made it to the end and won. A win is a win.

People always forget that. Cydney was the main reason the woman's alliance happened. She was sort of the bridge between Michele and Aubry. I think the reason they got rid of Julia was because Cydney wanted to be the tightest with Michele. She also saved Michele during when Tai tried to vote her out. However, Michele's Final Tribal Council was all time great. It's up there with Chris from season 9.

IMO, Michele is a good winner. She formed the relationships and cut them when she needed too. Survivor is all about social connections, people aren't going to vote for Tai, who made connections but was very cutthorat, people aren't going to vote for Aubry who played a good strategic game, and fomed good bonds, but was quick to go back on her word, and not give the chance to know the people she was voting out. Natalie White got to know the Galu members well while voting them out, and she won. Michele did the same thing with people like the girls and Tai. And Michele also had a good physical and strategic game. She is deserving.

Michele's physical and social game was better than Aubry's by a mile, I don't know how anyone can honestly say otherwise. Strategically Aubry made so many errors, the Julia cross out, backstabbing Debbie, making no attempt to form relationships with Jason, Julia and Scot, voting out Jason instead of Michele at the final 6. Michele never made any strategic errors, not one. Cydney played better than Aubry.

And Michele was smart and knew exactly what to do after this, also she was amazing at puzzles. Every other category, physical, social, jury management, elimination votes received Michele destroys Aubry by a mile. Aubry won the same number of challenges as Joe, one reward challenge. Based on your logic Twila should have beaten Chris, Lill should have beaten Sandra, Matthew should have beaten Jenna, Stephen should have beaten JT (although he intentionally didn't vote Coach), Steph should have beaten Danni, Susie should have beaten Bob. All of these are examples of people being on the wrong side of the vote more times but almost everyone agrees with them winning.

They respected how dominant Michele was in challenges, her loyalty to her alliance, her intelligence. Jason and Scot both wanted her to flip to them but she said no, but still had food relationships with them. Ultimately they respected that Michele wasn't a flipper because they werent. They didn't expect her to win at first but we're impressed how she played later on, winning immunities, rewards. And the complete jerk Neal only helped Michele.

Michele is not a terrible strategist. She's not Cirie or Tony, but she has a good mind for the game. In both of her seasons, she was rarely in strategic control, but she has good ideas. The Ethan vote in WaW was the best move of the entire pre-merge.

When I watched this season, I was so disappointed that Michelle won. However, I have gained some perspective after watching Aubry and Michelle play again. I really think the reason so many people were disappointed came down to the edit. They edited Aubry to look like a strategic mastermind and left out a ton of Michellle's strategic play (specifically with Sydney). Aubry honestly annoyed me when she played her second season. I found her a lot more abrasive, so it made me wonder about what we didn't see during her first season. Michelle did amazing during WaW, but Tony just played a ridiculously good game and love her or hate her, Natalie kicked ass on Exile Island. Michelle still did a great job and proved that she deserved to win her season.

I saw Michele (on the surface), being on the beauty tribe, as the real world gossip girl (clearly she wasn't) that is why people were quick to root against her. Aubry is a caricature of a nerd underdog, which a lot of viewers can identify with. But take away their stereotypes, Michele really was the better player. She used her extended immunity time to form bonds to create better inroads, while Aubry folded when she can't afford to. Aubry's game incompetence later manifested horribly in her later seasons, while Michele's social competence made her a force in hers.

I'm currently going through the season and I think I might have a theory why she's an underrated winner: Lack of screen time. I know that sounds strange since we have quite a number of confessionals for her. But going through the season, it seems like Aubry and Tai have the majority of the screen time. Every episode, you get to hear Aubry & Tai's confessional or someone's talking about either of them. It seems like Michelle is the victim of bad editing, where it looks like she doesn't do much or has been along for the ride.... and we ask know that's not true. I would agree that Aubry & Tai had the flashier, more risky games but Michelle stepped up where she needed to and managed a strong social game throughout.

gotstrawberriesido the greatness of Survivor is having winners which people can all identify with, especially in earlier seasons when the winners were more diverse in demographics and play style. Just because you may not feel like she is your favorite doesn’t mean someone else isn’t allowed to feel she is

Joshua Moore I never said people weren’t allowed to say she wasn’t their favorite winner. I’ve been watching survivor since season 6 the amazon I was 4 years old watching with my mom. I’ve seen every season and have re watched the show many times and of all 39 winners I just find it shocking that yours is Michele. Imo I prefer old school winners and seasons vs newer seasons and winners like Michele. It was obviously a slower and different and in many ways more difficult game to play back then, than it is now. My favorite winner (Tom Westman, winner of Palau season 10) didn’t have the luck of having the hidden immunity idol (which first appeared in season 11 Guatemala) same with the players before Tom, where they had to have a different strat to stay in the game whenever your tribe doesn’t win immunity, and even during merge. It just seems like with newer winners, most, not all, but most of them just get lucky finding these things that OG players never had the advantage of having. Now I’m not saying Michele was lucky at all in her season, I think she’s an amazing player. However a winner like Ben is someone who pisses me off. That man got so unbelievably lucky with the advantages he found and idols as well. Whereas someone like Adam in his season millennials vs Gen X he found a way to play both sides (much like some players who are old school, Boston Rob, Parv, Jonathan Penner etc) and it barley backfired. The only person who saw threw him was Jay. I appreciate some new schoolers it’s almost slim but I do like some of them, like Michele. It’s just hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that of all 39 winners (I guess 38, cause Sandra is one person and has won twice) Michele of ALL is some people’s favorites.

MICHELLE ive to post this really quick so i wont have any spoilers read as i currently watch the s40 where you're at, i feel hurt of how lowly you look at yourself when you won Kao Rong season. well honestly i loved aubrey, shes very strategic i wanted her to win and when you won i felt bad for her but hey! youre one of the sweetest, kindest and beautiful survivors out there. youre beautiful inside out! you deserved the winning. youre the most under rated player and yet you have won the competition. even at s40 youre still the same michelle i watched before. you are brillant working under the radar and i am loving you each moment of it. i have a huge crush on you but sometimes i get confused with sofie too cus im developing a crush on her too so i guess youre number one then sofie hahaha.... cheer up lady! i wish you find a great man whod treat you as a Queen that you already are! i love you michelle! hope you get to read this cus im watching s40 e7 and i had to stop cus i have to send you this message of how you felt about winning last time. when you won, no questions asked. you were the Queen of that season. cheers my love! im a fan and im watching here in the Philippines. im sorry this is long but i just have to say these to let you know that you deserved the wiinning you had.... I think the biggest testament to how lacking Michelle was strategically in this game is that at final 6 she was still talking about proving her loyalty. Having said that, her social game totally makes up for it. Survivor is a game about winning and losing. If you don’t need strategy to win the game, it isn’t the most important aspect of it.

just watched kaoh rong again and it’s clear that michelle deserved it. whoever wins survivor deserves it because it’s a win decided by players. michelle won the most challenges, didn’t go to tribal until merge and did not make enemies with most of the jury and rose from the bottom of the game. her social, strategic and physical game was phenomenal and she is definitely an overrated winner who imo deserved everything she got.

Just a little request as a newer survivor viewer, I watch survivor and want to rewatch a lot of older seasons but have really only watched the more popular old ones but plan to watch all of them. When your videos pop up with the winner of the season in the title I have to try really hard to forget what I just read. Maybe if you just wrote out the title minus the “winner” in it I think some people would appreciate it

I don’t understand why “flip flopping” as they call it is a bad strategy and has no respect by some players. Michelle flipped flopped by being in an alliance with Julia and then voting her out. You gotta turn on your own eventually 👍

Right but you have to be smart about it, burn as little bridges as possible. Michele played as loyal and as ethical of a game as possible but made the correct decisions to advance in the game when she had to, specifically I'm talking about betraying Nick and Julia. But she wouldn't allign with Jason and Scot because she didn't trust them and fully trusted the girls. Both of those guys thought she was extremely dumb for sticking with her alliance at the time but the ended up respecting her loyalty, even loyalty against them in the end. Because they weren't flippers, they were the ones who were flipped on, but Michele played loyal and made it to the end. Here's a great example, Michele's jury management with Julia was a million times better than Aubry's was with Debbie.
