wow. I haven't paid any attention to monster trucks since it first started and I went to see Big Foot as a kid. I also remember seeing the Orange Crush at a fair once. At that time they were just regular trucks with 2 stock frames on top of each other and boxed in, with 2 and a half ton Rockwell axles out of old military trucks, and lots of lift blocks and extra leaf springs to clear these big tires. I never saw Big Foot in action it was just on display, but with Orange Crush they lined up 4 old cars and drove over them. He had to be fairly gentle, but after he went over them a couple times they were pretty flat so he was able to gun it a bit and get the front end to come up as the finale. We were crazy impressed, I bought the Orange crush T-shirt and thought it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen. A truck crushing 4 cars and even sorta pulling a wheelie. Incredible. I wonder what it's like for a 10 year old to see what it's like today for the first time.

I am unaware of how cost is handled, but flipping over is just a simple matter probably of welding new tubular steel onto the frame and replacing the fiberglass body. Can't be that much in damage. The ones where those axles snap though, that must be a little more pricey. IIRC those are specially made axles.

People don't realize Max D purposefully designed that body so that it has the chance to make saves like these. Sure it impressive, but a lot of people cant save it simply because the body doesn't allow the tires to recontact the ground after a roll! He's great nevertheless!
