Actually the AWD c4 is pretty easy to drive fast. I don’t own one but my buddy does. Not sure if your American, but we took it up through the Smokey mountains in North Carolina in the winter and the engine lay out plus the AWD made it more trustworthy than our Subaru WRX. It doesn’t understeer but it doesn’t oversteer unless you want it to. It’s a weird feeling but it’s the reason why a lot of people say Porsche is an amazing car

But these ones in the video are 2wd GT3's. And this means something different, driving those on dirty/wet rallye tracks on the edge than going on a open winter road with a 4S.

@@peterhoelz3521 True but think its an NA engine, so not turbo lag (unless it’s modified), and more weight on the rear tires for grip from the engine placement. If it’s driven correctly then it shouldn’t be inherently harder to drive than any other car, it’ll just take some more getting used to as it’s not like most other cars.

Having all that weight out back makes it easier to do long drifts and handbrake turns. Spectacular stuff, makes me think the 911 was first designed as a rally racer. There's something beautiful in seeing low-slung cars on long travel suspension bombing down gravel trails.

The noise takes me back to the late 70’s and the invincible Stratos. V6, flat 6, don’t sound hugely different except the 911’s seem to rev higher.

Unfortunately the 911 seems way too big for rally. The rear engine must add a lot of complexity in term of trajectory. However, it's an amazing racetrack car.

In this video most of the clips are from Germany, Belgium and the Czech Republic. But rallies take place all over the globe in most countries. Just usually not with Porsche GT3s on the line 😅

I find if funny how people claim Porsches are great rally cars when 99.9% of the ralley is done on paved roads. When anything off road or loose terrain a Subaru would destroy them. There AWD is not meant for conditions like what a Subaru AWD can efficiently go through.

Rally doesn't mean dirt or off road. Rally means it's multi stage on public roads.

Porsche has raced in rallies all the time....just check out the exploits of 911 SC in the 70s and 80s (including Dakar and Safari Rallies), as well as group N GT3s as seen here (RWD). I cannot think of a more ubiquitous sports car than the 911!

Cayman. Not sure the mid/rear engine would be better in terms of weight distribution, the heavy rear of the 911 probably helps take sharp turns (I'm no rally specialist though)
